So i've been driving a stock '86 for a couple of years now, and the front end just got cracked by a teenager who made a left turn in front of me... about 30ft in front of me...
So now my baby is a salvage vehicle, but i've got $1700 from the insurance company to put into her. I figure i can do the required body work for about $400, and weld up a serviceable bumper for a hundred or so...
so that leaves about $1200 to spend - what would the experienced T4R elders do?
I'd like to lift it slightly and put some taller rubber on it, but i'm not going extreme, just increased versatility on jeep trails and such.
So what is the best bang for the buck? can i tweak the torsion rods to get a little boost, or am i better off buying the OME rods? Is it worth my time to look for used parts and piece things together? or should i bite the bullet and lay out the money for a complete lift kit? If i upgrade wheels, what sort of offset/spacing should i be looking for?
Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom...
