2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 1 Owner mileage is 45,000. certified with 100,000 mile warranty..
what would you pay for this truck?

damn! that speedway blue is my favorite color taco. With Tacomas its hard to bargain because they hold their value so well and the demand is pretty high, especially the 2006 model year. Does it have a locker I forgot to check. And I dont believe you would be able to get him under 21k JMO.

Yeah it has a locker, all TRD 4X4 do. I offered them private party at $19,700. They said no. I offered another dealer $19k for an 06 access cab TRD w/13K miles. They want no less than $21k. Its hard for me to be willing to pay more than KBB when I can get a 2010 double cab TRD tacoma through USAA for $27,500. I'm trying to save some money and spend less than $20k here...otherwise its not worth parting w/ my 4runner. Oh and I love that blue!

Its a nice truck, but I might just wait until summer and buy a 2010 for a few grand more...god that's a lot of money. Almost $30k for a vehicle.

BINGO! If you're gonna keep teh truck for a while, Just spend a few more grand, get it brand new, and you'll prolly get a financing deal as well....

I was in the same boat as you and in the end, I just could not see what I was gaining for almost $20K. What does the double cab have that my 4runner doesn't? More powerful engine, but a lot less inside space, and none of the off-road enhancements that I've spent so much time putting on my runner. I realized I would also have a $400+/mo. car payment and I don't think it would even be as practical and useful for my needs as my 4runner. Thinking of all the other things in my life that I could buy with $20K, it became a no brainer.
Hit it right on the head. I got rid of my 08 because I loved my tacoma but i needed a full 4 doors. And a bed. and 4wd. So I went to the dealership and sat in the 2010 Tacoma and wasn't in love with it like I was my 08. It just felt plain, and the back seat was tiny. So I looked at the 5th gen 4runner and fell in love and was awed at what Toyota had done. But after it was all said and done the 4runner I wanted was 34k before TTL. I definitely did not want another $700 a month car payment.
So I bought a 800$ beater f150 for the weekend trip to lowes and am currently on the lookout for a pristine 99-00 5 speed with locker that i will pay cash for and have a whole bunch of mod money every month:biggrin2:

I love the looks and size of the new Taco, but the price is scary!!! I would give them $21000 for it, but only if I had like $7000 cash to put down as a down payment. The payment would be $300 per month over here over a term of 5 years. You'd have that baby paid for in 5 years or less, if it's an open loan, and have many more years of enjoyment out of it!
They've got room to move down. If you don't get that one, I'd bet you can find another one for the price you're looking at spending. Or, I think paying a few more grand and getting a brand new one would be sweet. I heard Toyota is offering some cash incentives to boost sales?
I ditched my 2 4Runners a few years ago and bought a 4-door Tacoma (2001). Just a better fit for me, since I bike, ski, hunt, and of course, some of the house work requires a truck bed (hauling sod, drywall, etc.). I just like keeping all of the dirty mess separate from the cabin. The bed is a bit short (5ft x 5ft), but it makes up for that with 2 extra doors for my kid and extra gear. The short bed still can carry much more cargo than a 4Runner (hauled full-sized couches, king size beds, etc.). Thought about keeping the 4Runner and getting a trailer, but too much hassle.
They both have their advantages, so you have to decide which you will appreicate more.

Just gotta utilize the roof rack! But yeah, there are definitely advantages to both. I haul band equipment around a lot and I need to protect everything from rain/snow and camper shells are just so enticing for criminals, especially when you're leaving the truck unattended in back parking lots and such.
