what year did they switch to the tubular boards

what year did the sport edition switch to the tubular roof rack and running boards?

I am in the market for one right now --


and found an 03 sport - but it has those big square running boards.

I would rather the tubular ones with the sport edition.....

06-09 Sport Edition. But I believe they are interchangeable between the two body styles. Instead of buying a different vehicle you could just buy the tubular running boards and roof rack.

After welding on sliders, I sold my tube steps local on CL for $100.
Tube steps are MUCH more popular than a standard stock "board".

yea, that definitely wouldn't factor into my decision whether to buy the truck or not... was just curious. I would prob. end up just replacing with some aftermarket ones anyways -
