What year is my truck?

Stupid question I know but I live in St. Kitts in the Caribbean where every car or truck is intended for sale in the UK. I just got a 95ish Hilux Surf V6 SSR 5 speed. I just don't know where to find the year. It has no VIN on it. Is there like some type of other number that I can look for?

Also, it is kinda heasatating when I drop the hammer on it. Do you think it needs a tune up? It's got 160,000Km on it. (I think thats about 100,000 miles)

The VIN is usually stamped in several places on the truck. Look for stickers inside the door frames, etc.

If it doesn't have one, then it may have been stolen at some point and all VINs removed (hard to believe allwere removed, however, since it's usually in many places).

As far as the hestiation goes, it could be any number of things. If it's never had a tune-up, it is long overdue. And changing plugs, filters, and fluids can't hurt.

Thanks, I'll look for numbers on it. I'm confused because the guy who sold it to me told me it was a 95 but when I went to pay the Wheel Tax (kinda like a regestration fee) they said it was a 94. Of course they also told me it was a "V6 4 cylinder" so......don't ask me.
It's going back to the dealer today to have the A/C fixed. Is that a common problem that generation 4Runner (2nd right?)?

Air conditioners can sprout problems if they are not used regularly -- the refrigerant has a lubricant, too. It has to be used regularly so the seals get lubed -- or they will dry up and let the refrigerant escape.

Not surprised that a 9-year-old vehicle might have an A/C problem. I've had vehicles last far longer without a problem, others a lot less time with problems. Go figure.

Your right! The dealer found a leak in a seal and I hope will be replacing it in a timely fassion. Here in St. Kitts you take the normal amount of time it takes to get anything done back home in the USA and tripple it! Then double the price! Thank god it's under warrinty (sp).
