your looking at about 1000-3000 dollars to have a shop install it for you. its really not that hard if you just buy a engine hoist take your parts put it on the new engine drop it and and reconnect it all

I've also been looking into this and I've found a site that seems pretty legit but I want to get an opinion from others that have used or know people that have used remanns.com.Their warranty is great but the price is a little high. Can I get any suggestions from the experience that's on this site please? I'm trying to fix my 1995 4Runner into top shape...

I have always been of the opinion that a good used motor with lower miles is better than a rebuild. Once they are rebuilt they are never the same.

90 T4r 4x4 SR5. Checked with number of local shops, majority do not have the specialize equipment to rebuild, rather they purchase created re-manufactured engines and swap. Faced with dilemma, familiar with one shop who rebuild and experienced, quality results, but expensive. Paid $4700 with 2 yr. warranty for rebuild, which included component that would not be included with a swap.
Contacted several local shop who quoted $2500-$3500 with a limited 90 day warranty. Another option, purchase created and install self. If one were to go this route strongly suggest review warranty and disclaimers. I purchased an engine for family vehicle from re-man engine rebuild out of the state of Washington, $1800 delivered and offered 70K mile warranty, and or, 7years, great customer support, this was 9 years ago and engine still running strong. Anyhow, food for thought?

The money spent rebuilding a 3.0 is not worth it in my opinion. Better off swapping Diesel or 5vzfe.

There's only one place that builds a high quality performance Toyota engine
Looking at all the re-builders for the old Toyota engines; the reason many say that they're not as good as original is because most places use inferior components. If you want the legendary Toyota reliability you have to use good parts. I would never consider having anyone besides Tim at DOA build an engine for me. He knows how to make power and keep them alive, regardless what you're going to use it for.
I've see a ton of posts on Toyota forums talking about engine swaps. If I were going to swap out a 3.0 for another engine, it would probably be for a 22re or a 2rz. V6 engines cost a lot more to build, especially if you want them to live for a long time in rough off-road conditions, like severe angles.
