Ok, i need some help here...1997 4runner limited, 204k miles, runs like a champ.
This may get long, but here is the background. 3 days ago the 4runner had to sit outside overnight, and the windows were frosted over. No big deal, let it run in the drive way with the defrost on for 10-15 minutes, come back out and it is blowing freezing cold air. I had to get to work, so i scraped it and got on my way. It was another 10-15 minutes of driving before it actually had warm heat blowing. This morning on my way to work, almost the same thing however i noticed it started getting hot on the gauge while driving, NOT overheated hot, but warmer than normal. Today on my way home from work, it heated up to normal temperature, and i turned the heat on and it was just barely warm out of the vents. Slowly the gauge once again began to creep up while the luke warm air continued to blow, finally 20 minutes into my drive i got a blast of super hot air from the vents, and the temp went right to normal and stayed that way the entire way home even with the heat on and heat off. I notice that at idle the hot air cools to warm, and if i rev it to 2k rpm i get all my hot heat back. It runs and drives 100% normal.
Any thoughts? Thermostat? Heater Core? Water Pump?
