2008 sr5 ac v6

Hello everyone,
My ‘08 AC is acting weird. The system is leak free. When it’s under 85 degrees the temperature of the air from the vents is a chilling 37 degrees. When it gets hot like over 90, the air from the vents rises up to the 60’s. So I know it works great on warm days but won’t cool the cabin when it’s hot. I don’t think the ‘08 has a heater control valve. If it was a blend door why would it blow cold ever? I’m stumped and thought I would ask the forum for ideas. Is there a sensor that could be failing? Thanks in advance.

There's a temp sensor in the lower right panel to the right of the steering wheel. Pull the panel and clean the sensor if its cruddy.

Don't think thats your problem, but its a place to start.

BTW, how is the heat working?

The heat works great. I’ve cleaned the sensor and it doesn’t seem to make any difference. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the reply.

My other thought is expensive. It sounds like a control valve or door isn't working correctly.

The system is out of whack if you're getting 37f out the vents. You know that!

I've not had hvac problems in any of my Toyota . DIY would be a full module scan, after that a skilled shop or the dealer.

You said no leaks but is it fully charged? With the engine running and AC on max, do you see bubbles or fluid or nothing in the sight glass under the hood? The reason I ask is the refrigerant responds differently at different ambient temps.
Also, are you running in recirc mode or fresh air mode? It likes to change on its own.
