What's it worth?

Bought my 16 year old son a "99 V6 SR5 4x4 auto w/e-locker (194,000 miles)two months ago. After 2 months he's been grounded from it for three out of eight weeks, and today rear ended someone on the interstate with it. the whole front end is smashed up pretty good, but it's still mechanically functional. Both front fenders, the hood, grille, headlights, are AFU, but the radiator isnt busted, so the damage is mostly cosmetic and I'm sure all the bracketry is screwed up.
At this point, I don't want to have it repaired. He needs to grow up some more before I give him another $6000 chance, so I want to sell it.
So, what's it worth?

Post up some photos so we can get a better clue. So far, it's probably not going to sell for much (3-4k?). Is the core support damaged?

If only you were closer by, I'd have considered buying it for repair.

With that high of mileage, and it being "smashed up pretty good", i would say no more then 3k, if that. BUT............

:worthless

Not sure about the core support. The upper radiator support is pushed back, but the rad didn't get into the fan or anything. Looks to me like everything forward of the radiator is toast though. I'll try to post up some pictures later, and those of you who are more knowledgable than I can give your opinions. I'm sure it can be repaired, but I'm not willing to spend the $$'s and have him mess something else up.

Would be nice to see it, but even without I would say the cost to repair would be very costly considering the amount of parts damaged. I saw one with front end damage, very minor compared to what yours sounds like and that one was between $1200-1500 to fix.

Wonder if this is a case of parts are worth more than the whole?

I would think the parts are now worth a lot more than the whole. The insurance company paid me $2K for my rear end damage (look at my avatar). It sounds like that truck would be easily considered totalled since it has almost 200K.

I got $1500 in damages on my front end. All the kid did was back into me in a parking lot. Dented the plastic fat lip bumper and front valance. You are looking at way more damage than that. Sorry. I fear they will total it.
