Whats my 4th gen worth

hey guys thinking about selling my 4th gen to upgrade. Its a 2004 with 201000 miles on it. super clean inside and out.
3 inch lift toytec lift with bilsteins
285/70/17 duratracs
stealth 6 wheels 17x8.5 -12 offset
sport edition brake upgrade
TRD exhaust
gobi roof rack and ladder
2 6 inch rigid sr series on back
42 inch bar in front
wired to oem fj switches on the console
HID headlights

frame is very good for an east coast truck. very well maintained needs nothing.
What do you guys think its worth?
and please DO NOT ask if im parting it out. I'm not.

Wow! That's a good looking truck and tastefully modded. I estimate a sale price around $12k if it weren't for the high miles I'd would say a lot more.

You're looking for a very specialized buyer with all the mods which means it will take longer to sell. I'd say [MENTION=121759]Davy180[/MENTION] is about right in the 10-12k range because 200k miles and 2004.

Very nice looking truck. I paid $10.5 for my stock 2003 with 68,000 last year. I'd guess yours is in that range, maybe up to $12,000.

What are you looking to upgrade too?

all I see is a off roaded vehicle with a lot a mods, means it was beat to hell.

less than 10k since I don't know what/how/who/etc did the mods or where it was beat on.

take all that crap off and you can get more from a pristine OEM looking 4runner.


and that is how most will look at it, with maybe 1% of people interested in your mods. and of those that off road, they will be suspect since they didn't do the offroading or mods themselves.

Im just looking to upgrade. i love the truck but its time for something new lol. i know itll be hard finding all the money but its worth a shot

but the average buyer wont know that and they will offer accordingly. just like if you take it to a dealer, they offer the price based on the original vehicle not the $5k plus into mods.

most likely they will remove that stuff and sell it as a normal 4runner.

As stated previously, a lot of stars have to line up for you to get a "comfortable" number--reflective of all the parts' value. And even then, you're probably looking at least a 50% knockdown on part-value if you want to sell it all in one piece.

Sadly I have to agree with the above and I am speaking from experience.

The first thing you have to realize about selling a modified vehicle is that your "pool" of buyers is a fraction of the size of the pool of buyers for a non modified vehicle. That drops a lot of value right there because there simply won't be as many people competing to buy it.

If you want to get any value out of your mods your smartest bet is to take them off and sell them separately and return the vehicle to as close to stock as possible.

I seriously doubt anyone's going to pay $10k for a vehicle with 200 grand on it no matter what modifications it has.

Just as a point of reference I tried to sell my 4runner before I left for my next camping trip. Mine is 3 years newer (2007) and has 60k fewer miles.

The highest offer I got was $10k and that buyer ended up backing out. My truck is not beaten up, although neither is it in perfect, flawless condition (and I'm betting yours isn't either, not with 10+ years and 200 grand on it.)

Also yours is a 2004 which means it has the 4 speed auto vs. 5 speed.

The only way to really know is to put it up for sale. Clean it up, take some nice pictures and list it. But don't be surprised if you get people emailing you or texting you and asking if you'll take $6k for it.

I understand you may have an idea in your head of what YOU think it's worth (because I did, too.) But reality has a way of slapping you in the face.

Around here you can get a fairly clean later 4th gen (2006+ facelift) for about $12k with ~ 130,000 - 150,000 miles on it. I've even seen V8's in this price range.

BTW the other issue is timing. I think this time of year when people are gearing up for the holidays, a modified 4x4 is not high on the priorities list.

To me a modified 4x4 is kind of like a motorcycle - you want to try and sell it in early Spring when the weather is starting to get nice and people are thinking about going outdoors.

Sounds like you are not in a hurry and that is a good position to be in. Keep it clean, keep the ad updated and be ready to show it or offer a test drive if someone wants to see it.

Fair enough, if you aren't in a rush I'd post it high and see if you get any bites. Most of us know by now that it's cheaper and easier to buy an already built rig than to buy everything yourself. She looks clean and if you've got good records the mileage wouldn't scare me. Sorry I can't really give you a good number, I come from the 3rd gen crowd, but the 12k mark sounds about right.
