Hey guys, sorry for ANOTHER lift thread, but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for and I want some opinions from you all.

So I have a 'slight' sag in my rear (2001 SR5, 132K).

I'm trying to find a cheap option to bring my rear up to stock plus about 2 to 2.5" Then make the front level with the back, about 2 - 2.5".

From the reading I've done the reason for sag is coils, so the rear coils need to be replaced for sure, but what about rear shocks and front coils and shocks?

Also I don't have a garage so I think I'd have to pay to have someone put them in for me ~$350 with alignment.

Originally I wanted the full OME suspension kit for 2-2.5" lift, but that runs over $800! Then I started thinking cheaper options:

For example, replacing rear coils with OME 2.0-2.5" lift and new Bilstein/KYB shocks. Then just putting spacers up front to level out. But not sure if that's smart?

So I am asking you guys for your opinions if I need to replace all shocks, rear only, front coils only, keep shocks, spacers, etc.

this has been discussed many times try searching and reading through the FAQ and lift threads... and just search for the love of god :rant:
 
I have no idea why some people are mean on forums. I've seen it on all forums I belong to. I have anger issues myself, and I've worked hard for years to improve my attitude and control myself. I know people are different, and they may or not choose to do something about it, but I will say that, from personal experience, life is much better when we are a little nicer to one another.

It's really a shame.

Once you have a grasp, ask again if you can't find stuff by searching. Don't let the online bullies scare you off. There's tons of info here that can really help you out and save you money and time.

If you dont want to see this kinda stuff go to a more secluded forum, or just dont open the thread... he was being nice (funny) about his post.

There are many ppl here that will answer his question with eager! But I am not one...lol:whip2:
 
Don't have experience with the stuff you listed. But make sure ya check out the tundra/ land cruiser lift in the lift thread. You can piece it together for fairly cheap with used toyota parts and it is a great lift IMO.

WHOA! I'll do some further looking, I was just trying to work the cost-factor into the equation that I've already ready. Thanks for the tips though! :happens:

I could see if you were obligated to answer every question that comes up in 3rd gen. Only then you could be a total **** about it. In the 30 minutes it took for you to post (because we all know you looked over it and made many changes before posting). You coudlve answered the question and this post would have been history.
 
call me an ass idc, the issue is this is one of the most common questions asked... if you simply looked, even scanned the front page of our forum subsection and or did a simple search, the op would have found his answer. its ridiculous how many times in a week we have to answer the same questions over and over again. sorry to the op, i was not trying to single him out, he just got the "short straw". the lift you want to look for is a TRD tundra front strut set out of a 00-06 tundra TRD(non quad cab) that will net you around 2-2.5" and then get some rear OME 2" springs, get some good shocks to go with them, dont get cheep ones you will hate it. dont get a spacer lift you will not be happy. if you cant afford a whole lift start piecing it together on part at a time(like im doing) dont got cheep and buy spacers. but if you cant wait then only put spacers in the rear, do not spacer the front struts as they will prematurely end their life.

but in the future just do some of your own searching before you go making a post asking for others to do you work for you please.
 
I'm gonna agree with Kid on a couple of things....the lift info he provided in his last post. The Tundra TRD struts are a cheap, cost friendly front lift. You can most likely get the parts from a wrecking yard for cheap, and it gives you a nice factory ride up front.

For the rear, the OME 2" springs would be good....but I like rake...so went another cheap route....and got me some Land Cruiser 8 wrap coils, and paired them with some cheap Skyjacker shocks.

I'd have to agree with some of the guys though, and say that you're better off getting some Bilstein 5100's....as they'll have the right length to go with a lift.

fightman ^ has a thread about his lc lift as well. Just search, I assure you there are plenty of threads out there. If not, since you have a thread, someone will answer.
 
When I was new to lifting my 4runner, I wish I searched bore and found this forum, and the lift sticky. Pretty much all the info you need is there.

The short answer is, you get what you pay for. Spacers are a cheaper fix but for little more (sometimes less if you buy used coils) go for taller coils. Spacers can cause problems too.

Shocks, again, you get what you pay for. I will tell you that the "M" and "G" brands are junk and not worth putting on. They are made for the basic car. I have Bilsteins and love them.

The adjustable perch 5100 Bilsteins serve two purposes. You can lift the front up to 2.5" with the stock coils (the fronts usually don't sag like the rears do) and give you a good/new shock.

Thanks. I like Tundra setup up front idea. Also the 99 highlander springs would be sweet, and cost effective. Though the lift thead says anything over 2" of lift needs a diff drop, not sure how crazy I am about doing that. Maybe I'll try to sit right at 2" of lift.

The 2001 is one of the shortest from the factory. The 99 coils may give you an inch or two. If they are high mileage used coils, they too may have rear sag.

Don't shy away from a diff drop. It's easy to install and helps the CV angles. The biggest advantage is that it may save your CV boots from tearing (due to the steeper angles, the boots can rub causing tears and also from old age).

that using google instead of the runner.org search function yields alot of great info about 3g 4runner lifts and such. With google you just have to work the queue language a bit like

"yr 4runner 2 inch lift" .
 
^*This*^ or even the Google search bar for the site is good. IF you use Google and type in the question it usually gives you more than enough between all the Toyota forums. 0.02

On another note, yes we all have the option to not post in a thread. I don't agree with the route some take by coming off how they do. That's not going to do anything but deter new members from the site. I've noticed there's a couple E-Thugs on here and I dont see them as any better than the people who ask questions without searching. It's just the internet so relax.
