What's that noise?

I don't know if there is already a thread that is focused on strange noises, sorry if there is already but if not i thought i'd start one.
here is my noise: This noise only comes when it's wet and cold outside. What happens is as soon as I turn over the engine it sounds like the belt squeaks for like 1 second maybe 2. But like i said when it's dry and cold i don't hear anything however if it's rained or snowed it does its thing (not all the time though) It even did it after i washed my truck one day. really strange
I have had the 90k mile tune up and all the maintenance is up to date.

okay back on topic, it's probably just a belt with a little moisture on it...shouldnt be a big deal if it goes away immediately

I think its all the HTML in your sig. Fonts, Colors, Alignments, etc.

X2 Mine does the same thing after a heavy rain or if I wash it. Just a wet belt.

it could be your tensioner pulley, if it gets worse that could be your problem. And to Bryan, Im pretty sure he made that before the rule about not 5+ line sigs.

I'm having the same problem with the squeaks at start up. Mine started with the damp fall, then the cold temps kicked in. Originally thought it was a belt too, but now leaning towards a pulley because of the "metal-ish" tone to the squeak as well as having newer belts on. I even considered it being the starter in some capacity, but know it is not likely. Squeak seems to subside after 3-5 seconds from start. No difference in performance noted at all-just annoying for me and my neighbors.

If anyone has any suggestions, I welcome them. I am getting an oil change tomorrow and going to ask them to check belt/pulley conditions. Will give update.

Turn your A/C on and see if it keeps squeaking. Then post back. that was directed at P^2

Mine does it sometimes also. I've had other vehicles do it too. Like others said.. Could be the pulley, improper belt tension, etc.. I put belt dressing/conditioner on occasionally and it definitely helps.. Its a real sticky spray on stuff.

wow, i am having the same thing. last 2 days i've noticed it. right when i turn the key, i hear a loud squeek for like 1 second..then it goes away..today i also noticed that the engine almost cut off b4 it went back to normal after the loud squeek.

whats the problem

as for moisture..it could be..b/c it rained all last night but its rained plenty of times and never happend..plus its under my hood right?

I believe since I had the same problem and that most of us here have sport hoods that its the scoop thats leaking. I filled the bolt holes that hold the scoop with silicone sealant and no more problem. I noticed that the holes conveniently leaked water above and on all the belts. Like I said same exact problems with this as the solution.

dahh sorry it took me forever to reply. School is killin me right now! Thanks for all your ideas though. your probably right about the sport hood. i didn't even think of that. It's good to know it's nothing serious but it is kind of embarassing sometimes cause i don't want to be the noob driving down the road with that loud schreaching goin on. Toyota's just shouldn't sound that way its a discrace if they do.
With my signature your right i haven't chaned it since the old layout they had. i attempted to and then found out the 5 line rule. i'v just been too busy to get to changing it. thanks again!
