Whats the best HID kit for the 4Runner

I just got my 04 V8 SR5 4x4 the other day and was wondering who makes the best HID kit for it. I want high and low beam HID and fog lights.

Many members here got their HIDs from Xenon Depot. Also many believed that a more expensive kit is better in terms of quality which is generally true. But I got my kit from DDM Tuning for $29 + shipping. And until now its still alive..no flicker.

I don't know what to believe anymore, German Technology, European parts, China, Taiwan, new chip, blah..blah slim ballast,philips technology, heavy duty, warranty,US seller, Hong Kong factory, Quality guarantied..
LOL! when they look and have the same output, while some have really bad kits.

Choose a seller which replies fast to your inquiries and can be contacted easily through email, chat or call. It means they have better customer service. And its best to buy this time because fall/winter they are super busy with shipping.

One thing, installing HID in a 2004 with halogen reflector will cause much glare to the opposite traffic(I have tried that). You might want to do a HID projector retrofit. Though you have white bright low beam, it will look more aftermarket because of the glare.
 
I got mine off of gothidxenon.com. It works fine but definitely not the best kit in the world. I wouldn't do your high beams; they have to warm up everytime you turn them on or they won't last very long at all. Plugs I don't know that you will get more visibility out of them
 
What is the projector retrofit mod. And Autbond-WAR DAMN Eagle!!! Your 4runner looks badass. i live in Hoover. Well have to get together and go ridin sometime
 
Yea I am def down to do that. Im always looking for people to ride with. I am from Indian Springs, went to Oak mountain. Projector retrofit is putting projector housings in the stock 03-05 models
 
audiqtr -You are paying for the name and for the fact that the bulbs is actually made in Germany. On paper Philips bulbs are rated to be slightly brighter and more durable.

All the HID kits that we sell though use proper Philips anti-UV quartz glass to ensure you do not age your headlights prematurely. This is just one of the differences between our HID kits and some lower cost alternatives.

Another vote for xenon depot. Been running great for 2 years now in my 4runner. I also just threw away a $160 HID kit from my MX-5 and replaced with the $200 xenon depot kit. The cheaper kit would flicker and restart on every big bump- and every connection was checked over and over again.

I have the Xenondepot 4300k HID kit and LOVE it. Great service and very easy to install. I believe the kit was about $150-$200. Check with Steve and see what the price would be. He did very good sending mine.

Hey Smokngunz and Autbond I have to give both of you guys a BIG ROLL TIDE!! Looking forward to another great college football season. I am originally from Trussville and lived in Hoover before moving to Nashville. Are there still trails behind the Hoover Met(Regions Park)? I spent many hours on those trails!
 
question on cutoff and blue/purple line?

i have a 2005 SR5 , i had a retrofit done with RX330 projectors and clear lens and custom cutoff. my cutoff looks awesome but have a concern. i was driving in front of my wife and every big bump she hit the cutoff would obviously go up and down. it almost looked like a cop with flashers on in my rearview mirror. on a smooth road it looks great with no problems, but i am concerned about this and getting a ticket maybe? anyone have any comments on this ?

The flicker is fine. It happens on many cars with HID projecotrs.
 
+1 for ddm tuning. Been running the 55W kit for 6+ months now and they've been outstanding. And you can't beat the price.

nothing to worry about here, I actually inhanced that flicker effect by color modding TSX projectors to get more color out of them. No problems with law inforcement in 2 years

I would go with DDM tuning HID i have them in my car as well as my wife's Sequoia. Get the 55w 6000k you'll be very happy with them and their warranty and price you cant beat.
