What's the difference between flowmaster 40 and 44 series?

Also, what is the to get (either flowmaster or magnaflow) that will be loud, but not have very much drone?

the flows is 2 chamber i think, mag is fiberglass packing.
they all will have drone, what engine size u got? i have 4.0 with the flow 44 offroad series, but i did 3 inch pipes and i like the sound of it, louder and deeper than the cherrybomb vortex.
40 and 44 have different chamber design.

I've got a V8 and i have the stock exhaust except for a silverline exhaust tip rerouted to the side and the resonator off. I guess my question is, which one will be loud as hell, but have little drone. If it's going to have drone anyway, what is a loud ass muffler?

If you want loud but not get very much drone you'll probably have to go with a custom made muffler. Contact dirtydeeds over at 120. He has custom designed and fabricated mufflers for several members over there. The prices are also reasonable.

I've messed around with different sound levels. I can talk to a customer on the phone and figure out their sound level goals and build a muffler which specifically meets those goals.

I've also experimented with Helmholtz resonators. These effectively eliminate drone!

My building technique has been thoroughly refined as well.
