Pre runners are cool if you live in a flat area with no mud and just drive fast, jump stuff . But lets be honest, the maijority of prerunner owners dont wheel the truck and use them to drive to work and look cool. There isnt anything wrong with that. I personally cant live without 4wd, the truck would be useless to me being I live where it snows, we have big hills and lots of mud and rocks to drive on. I might consider a prerunner as a strictly commuter type truck for better gas mileage but in the end an AWD subaru would probably fit that bill better than a pickup

Just an FYI, a Prerunner, (not to be confused with the 2wd Tacoma which was named after this class of vehicle) is a truck based on a production truck, which has had some work done mainly to the suspension, so it can 'prerun' a race course, albeit at much lower speeds than the actual race vehicles are capable of.
The Trophy Truck in the first video, is a built from the ground up, 4130 Chromoly tube frame chassis race vehicle. They hang composite body work on them, so they resemble production trucks for marketing purposes.
I've worked with a few people over the years in the Dragracing community, that have also worked on Trophy Trucks. They are cool pieces of engineering.

That skinny douchebag in the flatbill cap and wifebeater driving the Tacoma with wheel spacers and coil spacers in front and chopped coils in rear to give the truck a Cali Squat is not driving a prerunner. He's driving a ruined truck. The guy driving the Ranger with the huge skid with speed holes and a giant stinger hoop with 50 lights and some fiberglass fenders is also not driving a prerunner. He's driving a slightly less ruined truck. The dudes hucking big air at Glamis are also not driving prerunners, at least not most of them, because most racing teams wouldn't risk an expensive prerunner like that. Nobody is driving a prerunner except for the guys driving the trucks used to pre-run a desert race course. Those guys are driving prerunners. Everybody else is just driving a modified truck.
Well, I guess the guys driving Tacoma Prerunner models are driving Prerunners. But even those Prerunners aren't prerunners, most of them. But the guys driving around in the trucks modded to mostly look and sometimes actually be desert go-fast trucks aren't driving prerunners any more than that tard that posted a while back about "overlanding" on the dirt piles behind his neighborhood strip mall was actually overlanding. There's the actual word, and then there's what the word has been corrupted to mean by posers and wanna-be's.
