Whats the white letter trend

Since I'm always browsing the car lots and see no definative trend on white letters in or blackwall tires.

Who makes the determination or what goes on a vehicle ? Is it cost based or do the designers determine what looks best on each model.

It seems cars all come blackwalls.....

The back & forth of WL or BW seems to only very on trucks.

I personally only like the white letters of BFG AT , nice solid block style letters,sporty as all get out. The BW are nice to keeep clean and dont get scuffed,and I also think BW maake a tire look meatier / bigger since there is no WL to break up the side of the tire.

Thoughts ???????

I guess it's just personal preference. When I finally replace the Dunlops, I'll go with the Black letters out as I prefer that style.
 
I don't recall seeing any new cars with white lettering in about 15 or 20 years. not to say there haven't been some, but I don't remember them. With the current trend of putting 17 inch and larger wheels on cars there's not much room for white letters and they'd probably look out of place anyway.

As for trucks and SUV's it seems to be about 75% blackwalls and 25% white letters in my area, by my guestimate. Again, you run into the problem of white letters looking out of place on 17 inch and larger wheels, even on trucks.

I had the letters out on my Bronco for the first set of BFG AT's, but turned them in on the second set. They only looked good when they were clean and it was a pain to keep them that way. Black sidewalls are far easier to keep nice looking and in general I've decided I like the look better than the letters. Of course, in the end it all comes down to personal preference.

They would want pink letters to the outside...

I have wwjites out on my Revos , but would rather have black out personally.

The thing with BFG is they have awesome block white letters ( the best looking IMO ) If I was to do it again I would go blacks out , almost even thinking of doing that and switching my Revo to it. I hate white outline letters.

One other thing in my bizaar observations is that with blackwall tires there is no white letters to break up the overall tire appearance,which IMO makes the tires look visually bigger in size...... i know weird thinking.

When are getting them installed ?

Did you decide white letters ? they wont look bad either way , just a personal preference.

Have one side mounted with them out and the other side mounted with them in , this way you can enjoy either look .... lol:biggrin2: :bash:
 
I went with the white letters out (BFG's) and think it looks great when my truck is clean..... but I always wonder why I did when I'm on my kneees scrubbing on them trying to make them white again!
 
I hate white letters on any motor vehicle. They get scuffed, covered in brake dust, and require cleaning. Another reason, is that I do not like to advertise for them. To me, and I know I
 
I like the BFG's with white letters out better. It kind of bugs me to see the white letters on the inside. They get dirty in there but you can still see them. Recently remounted them on the Cherokee after a couple years with the white letters on the inside, moving them to the outside.

Best way to deal with brake dust is to replace brake pads with original equipment pads. They seem to keep the tires and wheels cleaner than aftermarket pads. True for us so far with Jeep, Pontiac, and Ford. Haven't had to get a brake job yet on the Toyota.
