What's this Elocker Missin??

Finally some sense. All non-lorkered 3rd gens where 4:10. All locked where 4:30, the 4Cly with locker which I believe is rather rare had 4:56s. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You're being a bit too broad, 2WD's sometimes had the odd ratios, like the 3.73's and some 4X4's I believe had the 3.90's, I'm pretty sure my 2WD has the 3.42's ATM.

man if i lived next to u we would be wheelin or drunk wrenchin 90% of the time!! LOL ur rig is bad ass!! H E L L ur driven all over the country anyways looks like from one of ur other threads...come through KY...some pretty decent trails here...

Not true. Generally the v6 manuals are geared 4.10. Generally the v6 autos are 4.30. Both were available with lockers. The only way to be sure what gears you have is the spin test. Takes two minutes. Well worth the time.
Well I totally belief you... I know some guys that only work on Yotas in their junkyard, and when I told them that they laughed it off... I guess I would have the guy send you a shot of the gears head on so you can count the teeth.

I just did the spin test...counted teeth on the ring gear and teeh on the pinon and its 4.10!!!!

Well if you already bought it and counted I lose and you win. I would definitely consider that you lucked out! Good find!

Anytime man...thats cool if...and i mean IF...we run outta beer, I can get some GREAT MOONSHINE!! LOL....its the Appalachian Mountains!! HHAHAA

I HATE YOU!! Lol, I can't find that stuff around here to save my life, I might have to head out there on my trip later just for that!

Alright, done going off topic lol

Yeah man...i think i got really lucky finding this...i was at a doc appointment with my GF and was checking out craigslist and ran accross it....he was asking 250 for it....but when we talked he made the fatal mistake and said he needed cash cause he was heading to Vegas....He came and meet me at the Hospital where i was at with gf....i pulled out 150 bucks and said "this is all i have in cash....do we gotta deal?" He picked the E-Locker up and carried to my 4Runner....7 20 $ bills, 2 5s, and about 10 cart-wheels later i had my ELOCKER....LOL!!! when i got back in the doc office my GF asked me how much i paid for it...and i told her...she pulled out her purse and handed me back a 150 bucks!!! So, yeah i Gotta say i got pretty LUCKY today!!!

I appreciate all the quick feed back....I wouldnt know what to do without this website!! You still got the BETTER LOOKIN RUNNER THOUGH so U WIN!! LOL...and ur locker is already in...LOL :hail:

What yota guys are you talking to? That chart is absolutely wrong, as has every single chart I have seen out there, including Brian's chart that Dous posted. My axle code is A04A, and my ratio is 4.30. The only rule that I think has been pretty spot on is that auto lockers are 4.3, manual lockers are 4.10.

Glad you did the spin test, now just make absolutely sure that the new diff is 4.10.

sounds like a shady deal to me. The dude met you in a parking lot and sold you an elocker. especially for $100 less then originally agreed upon.

I bet the locker is locked up or it has a terrible whine to it.

But if it is good operational shape then you scored a nice find.

Count the teeth on the ring and pinion and find out what the ration is.

Has anyone ever used this....I know that trying to wire this up myself would only be a disaster...

Off Road Solutions - Harnesses

If i do use this do i need to still buy the E-Locker Harness...or does this take care of all wires needed....

Dude, IMHO, if you're willing to spend that much cash, buy this instead:
TOYOTA E-LOCKER SINGLE PANEL

Same cost...looks waaaayyyy nicer and you can choose what message you want stamped into the switch plate. It is a plug-n-play solution. I bought the switch, the 17' harness, and requested my face-plate quote. My avatar says it all. Disclaimer: I do not work for nor even know 12Volt Guy personally...I just really like his work. He answered a question I had in 5 minutes...at 10:00 at night. :D

OH, and FWIW...all you guys talking about what gearing came with what yota I can tell you this; my 97 SR5 came with 4.10's stock, but when I geared up for my 33's, I went all Toyota. I found a full rear axle (drum to drum) that was elockered, ABS'd, and 4.56 geared...stock. I found it in a 4Runner in a salvage lot in Erie Colorado for $500. I thought the wrecked runner was a Limited with the 31x10.5 tire package, but later I read that 3rd gens only had the 4.56 gears if they were 4-bangers. Well, I guess it doesn't really matter at this point because I know what I have and that it's stock and it came from a 4Runner (I helped pull the axle and load it). And lastly, I acquired the matching high-pinion 4.56 front diff from a salvaged Tacoma in WI. ;):

Yeah it is a lot of cash for some wires lol bad thing is I need something like this cause I know I would never be able to wire it myself...I want to be able to use the oem switch because I have it and like the OEM look a lot more...imo I looked at that other harness and ur right it does look nicer than the one from offroadsolutions. I know 4sure the gears in the third member are 4.10 and my runner has 4.10 gears as well....So I won't be doing a re-gear...I have to find an elocker axel housing as well then I will be on my way to having a locker

If you have the factory switch that is great. I agree it does look nicer than anything aftermarket I have seen. Don't be afraid of the wiring it is very simple it only takes time. All of the wires in the factory harness are color coded to correspond with the diagram in the link below. The link below outlines how to use the factory switch and lists the required components. In your case you will still need to obtain the harness that plugs into your E-Locker. I didn't see the harness in the pics you posted. You can do it!

E-Locker Wiring Help Please - YotaTech Forums

thanks alot man....i have been wanting one of these lockers since my first 3rd gen over 7 years ago...and i finally found one....and it was a great price...i figured if something was messed up with it, oh well since u can fix them...I am pretty sure that i got a good deal though...the guy wasnt a crock he runs a successful buisness and talked pretty highly of this forum along with others, he also gave me his business card and told me if i ran into any problems to call him...i know u cant judge a book by the cover but, i think i am a pretty good judge of character....

I have been trying to figure out if i should get the factory e-locker harness from lowrangeoffroad or inchworm gear....i looked behind my dash a few days ago and there is a plug that looks exactly like the plug for the elocker switch....i am not sure if that means i have the correct ECU or do i need to get that as well??? I also seen that Slee offroad offers an Elocker control box but dont really know which one to go with??? All these wiring DIAGRAMS look like HEBREW to me....:tsk: SO.....that why i think i am gonna have a difficult tire wiring this up myself...and would rather go with a plug and play set up if i CAN???

Looks to me like that'll plug right into the locker. But that's a lot of dough for some wires...

Yeah I know man...i wished i could get around it but honestly all these diagrams i dont understand...never really messed with anything like this EVER...so by the time it would take me to find someone i TRUST well enough to make this for me where i LIVE...i would probably be out more money anyways...so thats kinda my reasoning why i would pay that much for it....HELL i would love for someone to make one of these for me i would pay 100 BUCKS for one NO questions ASKED lol as long as it worked LOL!! because my 4runner is my daily driver and i dont need it down long at all with an axel ripped out from underneath it....Its gotta be a one or two day job at the MAX!....
