What's under your 4th gen oil cap? Post pics

Found a similar thread for the 3rd gen v6 but couldn't find anything for the 4th gen v6.

Here is a photo of my 07 v6 taken last night while changing the oil. Lots of brown sludge under the oil cap and in the fill tube. Currently has 127000 kms (78 miles)

Oil change details-

Documented regular oil changes since new at dealer (approx every 5000 miles) using regular non synthetic oil and Toyota filter.

I am now doing all of my own maintenance and just switched to full synthetic. I am going to monitor the sludge over the next few oil changes to see if it gets better, worse or stays the same.

I do drive in extreme cold temperatures in the winter, I'm sure that would be a contributing factor.

Do you think this is normal?

Yukon, I just changed the oil for the first time since purchasing my 08 in july and it looks the same.

looks normal to me. think how recessed the filler cap is from circulation of the moving parts. Of course there would be some condensation and sludge under the cap. Its like that in every vehicle. If you want to know for sure send a oil sample out to a lab.

Engine just driven around town on short trips will condense water. Also check the PCV valve. The peanut butter colored oil is actually the oil additives in the oil that is designed to pick up and hold the moisture until the engine get warm enough for long enough to vaporize it back out. The PCV vents back to the intake to get rid of the moisture.

Change your PCV valve. The PCV system is designed to let the blow-by of unburned fuel get back into the combustion chamber to get burned off. If it cannot do this it starts to contaminate your oil.
