Hey everybody!,
Name is Doug, I'm currently stationed here on the island of Guam with the wifey and just purchased my first Toyota 4runner for $13,000. It's a black 2005 sport edition 4X4 with the 4.7L.
A little about myself,
I've been active duty Navy for 6 years now. I'm an
E-5/AD2(AW). I've been a helicopter mechanic on the MH-60S the entire time in the Navy. I've been almost all around the world and have been to about 20 or so different countries. Before the Navy i worked at a toyota and ford dealerships. I love anything automotive for the most part. Of course I'm biased to a certain brand of auto manufacturer... FORD!!! That's all my family has ever owned and my grandpa retired from there after 35 years. Anyway the 4runner is for the wife. I wanted her to get the new explorer sport with the 3.5 ecoboost twin turbo but, she really wanted the 4runner. I was okay with this decision cause I know of the great dependability of Toyota. I own a 2002 f150 fx4 super crew. I'm currently working on a lightning supercharger swap. Then it will be lifted, 35's, rear locker, 4:56 gears, and some interior upgrades.
So far I love the forum! I'm also over on ford raptor forum, f150online, and lighting rodder as formuladriver01.
The 4runner has 110,000 miles and needs some TLC.
Few questions I have about the T4R...
1. I have the V8 with 4X4 so I have the "clunk" What is the Lexus prop shaft? Does this make it go away?
2. My steering wheel...the left side of it is sticking out further than the right. Is this normal?
3. The clock where is says the MPG, rang, and all the aircon info, it only lights up half of the display. Does anyone know where I can get one cheep?
4. I need a new dash as its split in a couple of different places. Same question as the las one.
5. My airbag light comes on every now and then. When someone is in the front passenger seat the indicator that says if its on or off sometimes says off and thats when the light comes on. Other times someone will sit there and the indicator says passenger airbag on and I won't get the airbag light in the gauge cluster. Anyone know what the problem is?
6. I did not get a owners guide. Can someone tell me what maintenance I need to do to catch it up to 110,000 miles. I very OCD about the maint. On my vehicles. The front timing cover says that the belt was R&R'ed at 85,000 miles.
