what's up. I new to this forum, and 4runners also. in a few months ill be getting my first car. and well I really wanted a civic and I had plans to build a motor and boost it. but after I saw how many problems my brother had after he turboed his civic, I said forget that. And I have always liked the 4Runner so I thought I would start researching on 4Runners.

Welcome to the Forum. My last vehichle was Nissan 300 ZX Turbo and it took some time getting used to heavy 4 Runner, but I love it now. It's hard not to love it after you try and see what it can do. There is no way sports car can do this:

as long as you take good care of the turbo, oil, heat protection, it shouldn't be a problem. i had a EG with turbo for 5 years and put about 40k miles on it, no problem at all. only things i did are a C&R radiator, water wetter with distilled water only, red line oil every 2000 miles.

my brother has a ek with the d16y7. and its been not so nice to us. really just the return line has been giving us problems. and also its not really that fast due to the y7 tranny. he hits 75mph in second gear. and he was dynoed at 168hp so its pretty bad. but I dont no, I still have a few months to think about.
