What's your 4Runner 4 Life Plan?

Ive had mine for just about 9 months and put over 10k miles on it already commuting to grad school....its my first "commuter" as Ive usually owned full size V8 rigs, lifted Jeeps, and K5s....Ive had one nice SUV in my life but I paid so much for it, and at the time I had a take home car for SWAT, I barely drove it and was always worried about messing it up haah...so I gave it to a friend who needed it for more serious reasons....so getting the 4runner was my attempt at being somewhat reasonable with gas prices going so high in California....
Anyhow with only under a year I already love the 98 4runner I have. Its got racerunner coils up front, old man emu/bilstein in back, tundra rims and BFG ATs, 5 speed, e-locker, 4.30 gears....I love the thing, 5 speed can suck in LA/OC traffic jams, but I still love it. Mild lift with the locker I imagine I could have some fun on wheeling, camping, and hunting trips with it...so at 160k miles on it now I hope it goes long enough that I move back to "America" at some point and can make it my hunting rig, take it on camping trips, and mild wheeling trips. If I ever buy a new or newer SUV again I wont want to take it in the woods. This one is in really nice shape, but has enough minor dents and scratches and high miles that I could play with it and not freak out. I put new cloth seats in it since the leather was dried out, so the interior is nice, its got a booming stereo, and yea it rides nice for a lifted SUV!!
Now if I could only finish up the semester and find some folks in SoCa who want to go on some camping and light wheeling trips Id be estatic! I want to have some fun in the woods with it!! Only thing I want to do in near future is ARB bumper and get the front axleshafts rebooted or rebuilt since the rubber boots are busted.
I hope I can hold onto it until it dies or it rots out if I move back east or midwest. The only way Ill sell it is if im still in LA and forced to get something better for commuting and I just dont have anyplace to park it!

I've always felt that the 3rd gens were the best all around generation of the 4Runners. In fact, I'm just now getting used to the look of the 4th gens, and I dislike the design of the 5th gens...
For now, my 4Runner is my backup vehicle/long distance 'Runner to my 1997 Chevrolet Lumina (329,000 miles, keep expecting it to die and it doesn't!) until I sell or pass on the car... Then the 4Runner will be my daily driver until it dies and then I'll probably get another 3rd gen, they are my dream vehicle...
So here's to keeping mine (hopefully!) forever! :cheers:
