Wheel and lug question

First off, greets to everyone on the board. I have found this board to be very informative for a 4runner newb like me.

Here is are a couple of pics of my 1990 SR5..

I'm planning on getting some factory aluminum wheels to replace the old painted steel wheels. Like these to be exact..

Also, can I use the center caps off of the steel wheels?
I know the questions may seem dumb but I don't want to waste money on the wrong parts. Thanks in advance if you can enlighten me.:cheers:

You can use your lugs, but not sure about the caps. If I were you, and haven't bought any wheels, look for the newer style rims. They are about the same price, but will make your 2ng gen stand out from all the others....while still staying with 4Runner rims.

The lug nuts from the steel wheels will NOT fit the OEM alloy wheels. The steel lug nuts are beveled where they meet the steel rims -- the alloy ones have a collar that extends into the wheel plus they have a captured washer. I tried using Gorilla alloy wheel lug nuts from Advance Auto but had to add double washers so they would not bottom out. I finally found the OEM lug nugs used (they are costly from dealer ~$5 each). The caps from the steel wheels won't work either --- the alloy ones are plastic, your steel wheels ones (if like my '90 Rnr) are steel. Again these are costly from the dealer (~$35 each). Just remember to put 6 of the old lug nuts in glove box if you use a steel wheel for the spare!

I polished a set of the ones you are looking at using W/D sand paper (course down to 800/1200 grit), jewelyrs rouge and Mother's mag polish --- a lot of work but they shine like chrome. I didn't re-clear coat them so they have to be polished with Mother's ever 4-6 months
