wheel bearing question

i have a 97 v6 2wd...

the front has gotten really bad and since i just got paid i want to switch out the missed up bearings that have been grinding..

my question is, by doing some research i found that the 2wd bearing doesnt cost as much if i order online through ebay or even getting it at autozone...but today while looking at a diagram i realized that there might be 2..an inner and outer bearing..is this the case for my 2wd?..and im not doing this myself..im going to have a shop do it..i just want to buy the parts for a reasonable price..

also if anyone knows anything else more about the front id surely like to learn more..

No inner or outer bearing. Just one really large bearing. Stick with koyo. I find that they install the easiest.

at first it was minor shakes..
did the re-balancing
did the new shocks
then at times i would hear a humming noise..familiar sounds because my brothers subie had the same problem..wheel bearing
now it just rattles at certain speeds..no humming noise at all..fear that bearing has completely been destroyed..really hear the metal being chewed up..

but it depends on your situation, because I have gone through a lot of simple cheaper eliminations to come to that conclusion..

looked at what they said about acceleration and deceleration..slow and fast speeds..etc..

is yours shaking too?

I'm actually really surprised to hear the wheel bearing is failing. I know when I pulled mine at 180k they still felt just like the new ones I replaced them with. I did it mainly as a precaution since I didn't want to have to tear things apart multiple times if I could afford to do it all at once.

I don't want to second guess your diagnosis (especially since I've never seen your vehicle in person), but the shake makes me wonder about the condition of your lower ball joints more than the wheel bearing.

If it is cold, and you hear any audible whine, then it is a bearing.

You can always jack up the wheel and grab the tire.

Stick with OEM on this one. Don't forget new inner and outer oil seals.

+1 on jacking up the noisy wheel. ANY movement you feel, even the tiniest bit will cause issues at speed. jack it up, grab the top and bottom of the tire and wiggle it in and out.

BINGO!..yup whine noise now since were getting into winter..and especially on the reverse when the broken ball bearings hop in the reverse direction..

as for the bearings themselves..i already purchased 2 new ones..found them at carquest for 60 a piece which was really good being they were actually KOYOs..retailer nor box doesnt say so but the bearing itself does
