Well I just got back from picking up a second set of Tundra/Sequoia rims, but in Hyper-Silver this time. :reddance: They are in good shape besides some curb rash on one of the rims. Now I'm not sure what I want to do. I was planning on going aftermarket and may still, but I like the T/S. I may run the T/S but I have to get some 17" tires now and sell my 5 stars.

Is anyone in the Bay Area interested in buying (5) 5 stars? If I can find someone to buy the 5 stars I will keep the T/S, otherwise the T/S will be up for sale. :biggrin2:

Both are great looking wheels. I say first look for a lightly used set of the tires you would get for the 17's, because new tires in that size are expensive. If you find a set, sell the 5 stars. If not, sell the T/S.

Yeah I had a set of T/S wheels before, but sold them because I wanted the 5 stars. Now that I have the 5 stars I am thinking of keeping the T/S because they look good in black. I'm going to look around for a good set of used tires for the time being, but if nothing comes up I will have to sell them.

Yeah I would consider it, but I would see if anyone is interested locally to avoid shipping 5 rims (I'm assuming you are talking about the 5 stars). I will let you know though if I end up wanting to ship.
 
Good luck with the new wheels. Post some pics. I am painting my new five stars right now. I hope to get them mounted by next week.
 
I just ended up

going with after market 16" 8" wide 8069 wheels. I figured after i bought another set of 5 spokes, had um powdercoated, then swapped the painted ones out for the OE ones on the truck now and then sold the OE set it would cost me more in terms of time, selling hassles and money then buying aftermarket wheels, mounting my tires on um and selling the OE 5 spokes on the truck now. Theyre gonna look great.

Got ya. I will keep you in mind if I end up selling the Tundra rims.

Yeah I really want some aftermarket 16's, but the Tundra rims look really good black. I'm not sure what I want to do, but if I end up finding a set of 265/70/17's for cheap I will keep the Tundra's. Otherwise I will keep the 5 stars till I can afford new rims and tires at the same time. I would get aftermarket, but I want to get new tires before paying for the mounting and balancing on new rims.

I'm looking forward to your pics. I may just plasti-dip mine till I can afford new tires.
 
powder coating is expensive and final. that said painting the five stars so they are coated evenly with no drips was quite hard.
 
Yeah I don't plan to powdercoat. I think I will just go with Plasti-dip at first and then maybe spray paint if I end up keeping them long term.
 
I've been looking at both for myself....can't decide which one to do...I might be up for either one, let me know what you're thinking!

Where are you located? I am tossing the idea of both around a lot, but I also really like the aftermarket wheels I have been thinking of. If the Tundra's were 16" they would be on, but I have to find some new tires for those and this is what is really stopping me. Plus I will either have to stick with a 17" wheel or get new tires if I end up switching.
 
Ok after mulling it over, I think I'm going to sell both my Tundra's and 5 stars and go aftermarket. I really don't want to paint anything, plus I saw the wheels I was thinking of getting when I picked up the Tundra's and I really want them now. Plus I want something other than stock to stand out a bit.

So, I want to gauge interest in the two sets of wheels. Local sale is the best for me, as shipping 4 or 5 wheels are a pain. I may seperate the 5 stars and sell as singles if people are interested (I saw Smog-guy and masson wanted one). I would rather someone have a full set, but if I get new wheels I need to sell mine quick. Also I may be interested in selling the Tundra rims seperate for anyone wanting a 5th, but would prefer an easy sell of all 4 without shipping. If I can get confirmation of the 5 stars selling then I can get my aftermarket's sooner.

Nice choice! I like those a lot.


However, I was secretly hoping you'd stick with a stock alloy wheel (preferably the 5-star) and just put 33's on them. And leave your cladding silver. But I know you are wanting to paint the cladding, so black wheels are the only way to go!

I have thought about keeping the 5 stars, but I'm not really too into the stock color. It doesn't fit with the tan cladding, red body and black emblems. Just too many different colors to work with and it doesn't really flow together well. That's why I either want to go all red (most likely not going to happen) or black bumpers and cladding. Then the lower half will be all black and the upper red.

Also no 33's for me. :cry: I can't justify the loss of power, mpg, and costs. I DD mine every day and don't want to lose any more power. Once I can afford either a supercharger and/or gears then I will move up to 33's. Plus I'm only going to be running 2" in front and 2.5" in the back.
