Wheel Detailing?

I want to know what the best way to remove hard water spots on my wheels is? I've got some American Racing AR23's and I'm not really sure what they're made of.

I tried using some Mag & Aluminum Polish but that didn't work. The polish was supposed to turn black according to the container it was in, and it didn't in my case.

Any suggestions??

The metal would have turned black if it was bare. It sounds like it has a clear coating and I can't imagine a wheel manufacturer that wouldn't put some kind of protective coating on their products. A cleaner wax should work better

:iagree: yes, cleaner wax should do the trick. At least it should with continual use.

Well, I tried cleaner wax on the worst wheel and it didn't really help...

That coating is shot. I can see a few water spots but that didn't catch my eye nearly as much as the small cracks. I would continue to use a cleaner wax after the wheels are washed and dried to protect the coating. It really just needs to be refinished though

Turtle Wax makes a great Wheel & tire cleaner that removes all kinds of shit.

I used to hit my wheels on my Grand Cherokee (and Lexus) and that stuff just SUCKS the moisture out of anything!! (did you ever have some dry on your hands???) Appears as though you have cracks in the finish and Simple Green will seep into the cracks and make things worse...........Anyway, after years of using, I noticed the finish on my wheels going to hell. A detailer told me never use unless taking stains off, but afterward to wax the hell out of the area wheel you used SG.

When I detail my cars/trucks, I use the Meguirar 3 step system (cleaner/polish/wax), try that (do a few times in the course of a few months) and perhaps you will be able to make it shine and make it look better. But yeah, the finish seems to be close to shot.
