Wheel finish flaking off

I live in Wisconsin which uses a lot of salt. I have a 2005 and my wheels started to flake and peel after a few years and now routinely leak.
I am planning to purchase replacements and wonder if Toyota has fixed this problem or should I get aftermarket wheels?

With a Facebook discount of $10 each, $140 each including tax, mounting and balancing.
I ask this to become educated, not to be critical. I just recently bought new wheels for snow tires. Based on what I saw while shopping for them, I have to ask -- Couldn't you get brand new wheels for a comparable price?

Plastidip is so easy to work with. I sanded the rough spots and cleaned the wheels real good before spraying. So much easier to clean up. If you like the color and want it more permanent just spray a clear coat over it. Or you can just touch them up from time to time.

Just any old rattle can of clear from Home Depot? Looking to matte clear some steel wheels that are brand new.
