I have a 2007 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition, and want to get a set of Toyota wheel lock, and have been searching through every site possible and still had no luck. Does anyone happens to know the part number for Toyota wheel lock? Also I want to put wheel lock on my spare tire, has anyone done this and will the Toyota wheel lock works on the spare, or do I need special wheel lock? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I did read through the pages of the thread and found it really useful. But when I called hubcabwheels about the wheel lock and they said they don't sell any spare tire locks. I also clicked on the link and it said the wheel lock is only for Ford and GM. Can you please provide me with a link for a spare tire lock for a 2007 4Runner Sport Edition? Thanks.
Strange...I wouldn't think there is any difference between the 2003-2005 and 2006-2009 spare tire mechanisms...but I could be wrong.
Maybe some with a 2006+ can chime in...

Wheel locks are, to an extent, more for your peace of mind than anything that'll stop a dedicated thief. I learned this when I was getting new snow tires last year, but had left the key socket at home. The shop said they could get them off no problem by hammering a socket over the nuts, but that they might get a little damaged. They were barely marred at all and didn't slow the shop down, they said they do that all the time.

To answer your question....yes, if you remove the spare and place it far enough away from your vehicle for a long enough period of time, the TPMS light will come on. (not sure of the distance or time requirements).
TPMS is not a cable connected to your vehicle...it is small transmitter in the wheel assembly that communicates with your truck. If the truck doesn't receive a signal, the TPMS warning light will come on.
There are other threads on how it works throughout the board. My question is if you remove the spare out of fear that it might be stolen, what happens when you need it? Murphy's law states you will need it very soon after removing it.:zoom:
