wheel offset question

So I am installing a cornfed 3/2 lift over the next few days and wanted advice on wheel offsets. I am looking at 17x9 XD Hoss or Addict wheels and there are two different offsets available: -12mm or +18mm. Could I feasibly run -12mm with 275x70 BFG AT's without rubbing issues? Anyone have any experience with -12mm offset 17x9" rims? Being that 12mm is just under a half an inch, and the rim width adds another half inch, versus so many people here are running 1.25" spacers, I would assume that it would not be an issue. Anyone have any experience with -12mm offset 17x9" rims?

Most guys that run 17x9 wheels usually go with a -12mm offset. You will need to do some minor plastic trimming, but nothing major with that tire size. If you want a wider more aggressive stance go with the -12mm offset. If you want something more factory like then the +18mm offset is a better choice. However, you will be limited in tire size before it starts to rub on the UCA.

I have 17x8.5 -6mm offset wheels with 265/70/17 tires and Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift. I had to move the fender liners forward and trim the corner of of the fender. Nothing too major. I took my front mud flaps off as a precaution, but I think I might be ok to put them back on and not rub. I will try one day. The -12mm offset wheels will stick out more than 1.25" spacers on stock wheels. A stock 17" sport wheel with 1.25" spacer is effectively about a -2mm offset. So they will stick out about 10mm more, then the width of the 9" rim is is also .75" further out as well.
