wheel spacers (re-torque or loctite)?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and modding 4rnrs. This site has a ton of useful information!

I want to install spidertrax wheelspacers and I know they provide loctite with the kit, but I've also read somewhere that the wheelspacers should be re-torqued every 100 or 1000 miles, or every oil change, etc. Is this necessary or possible if loctite is used?

Also, has anyone heard of the spidertrax wheelspacers failing?

I am interested in installing the spidertrax spacers as well. Pretty sure that re-tourque is after the first 100 or 1000 mile after installing. Probably would be a smart to re-torque as well every oil change since I usually have the wheels off anyway for the rotation.

It is important to choose wheel spacers with good quality.

It's necessary to re-torqued every 100 or 1000 miles after installing wheel spacers. I also installed BONOSS wheel spacers a few months ago, no issue so far.

Normally I wouldn't participate in thread necromancy, but others may search this topic and read this misinformation regarding spidertrax:

No, Spidertrax adapters do not need to be retorqued every 100 or 1000 miles. They should be retorqued once after driving 50 miles after initial installation, and then they are good (until you remove them again).

Blue or red loctite is fine, according to spidertrax (I was confused about this and called them, and yes blue is fine).

My ex's 4Runner has a set, we avoid removing them because they're a pain to install... cleaning all the threads, the mounting surface, getting the torque just right. Then repeating the process if any turn after the 50mile drive.

If in doubt about any of the installation requirements, call spidertrax, their support team was most gracious to answer questions.

As a side note, apparently the spidertrax adapter is stronger than a jeep wheel. If installed correctly; the wheel would fail before the adapter.

Wheel spacers are just a plate that sits between the hub and wheel mounting surface. Wheel adapters have a second set of studs.

I had Spidertrax 1.25" spacers on my 99 Tacoma. Followed the install instructions and they came with several packets of red locktite. Checked them once after the 50 miles and then I only checked them again when I rotated tires. They never budged. Never had issues with them either, they were great and achieved exactly what I wanted and needed.

Haven't installed any on the 4Runner yet but likely will as I go up in tires sizes.

Glad the misinformation has been corrected. To anyone interested in adding Spidertrax spacers, this post may be helpful. I think Spidertrax spacers are one of the best, easiest, and least expensive mods you can do and result in the 4Runner looking the way it should have come from the factory. I call it the mod I never knew I always wanted. (If that line is vaguely familiar, you probably saw Fools Rush In.)
