Wheel & Tire Question

I'm thinking about getting the Ultra Guantlet wheels for my SR5.
Now will this wheel fit since it is 17 x 9 and stock is 17 x 7.5?
What size tires should I get?

I just want to make sure there is no rubbing?
My T4R is not lifted and I don't plan to lift it in the future.

Will this work?
Please help.

Yes they will fit. A few of us have these wheels. I have the 20x9" a couple others have the 17x9".

I'm looking for something a lttle more aggressive like some of you guys have on. I don't do offroading I just take it up to the snow during winter for some boarding that's about it.

What's the biggest tire I can put on without rubbing?

Sounds like you're looking for an AT tire. I hear a lot of good things about Goodyear Duratrac (snowflake rated) but these are expensive. Try looking at Nitto Terra Grapplers, Hankook Dynapro ATm Rf10, Toyo Open Country AT, BFG KO.

Google and search this forum as there are plenty members who have posted pics and reviews. Good luck.

Are you lifted? If not go with BFG AT 275/70x17 you shouldnt have problems with rubbing.

If you are lifted, 285/70x17.

I would also recommend looking at the Goodyear duratracs, good in the snow and I must say they do well on road and off.

Duratracs dont come in the 275 size, but you could go with 265/70x17, they would look good on a stock truck.

You need to check the specs on any tire you buy. For instance, the Duratracs 265/70/17 call for wheels between 7-8.5". The 285/70/17 say they require between a 7.5 to 9" wheel.
You can research this forum since there are numerous threads on this issue and take advice from those that have lifts like mikey's2010SR5 has a lift and 285's. The 285's without a lift rubs.
I do not know what the risk if you have wheels too large if you go the 265's with the 9" wheels.

It is confusing, took me a while to find out which wheel to go with.

If you run a wider then recommended rim for the tire you will get the "stretched" look that the drifters love. Yeah it wont be much of a stretched look but you shouldn't have a problem

What are your plans for your truck? Lift? Level? Keep it stock? What will you be using it mainly for?

There are just so many factors in deciding on a tire.

Mikey's right. It was confusing for me too. Did a lot of research when I first changed my OEM tires to AT tires and had no issues with fitment on the new rims. Then I decided to get a lift and MT tires and had issues due to the rim backspacing.

Mistakes will happen when you starting to modify, especially if no one has done that mod or used that aftermarket product yet, but that's how you learn more about your truck. I would again recommend searching this forum as many here have tried different combos with and without lifts that have been successful. This will give you a better chance of success the first time around!
