i'm a newb to this whole 4runner world, and i have some time to play online a little.

my VW died in the middle of a busy intersection today. that was grand. a lot of fellow motorists said hi. at least i think thats what all the honking was about. :rolleye2:

anyway, i'm tired of dumping $$ into the golf, and it looks like i'll be getting my runner sooner than expected. so, i'm looking at toys for it now. gotta have wheels tires. what sizes are you guys running?

what are you looking to do? bling up to 20s, or are you just asking for factory size replacements?

what kind of tires you looking for? offroading, on road, highway, high speed, etc?

no, definately not bling. i would like a nice aggresive looking 16" wheel at the biggest. and i tire that would be nice to go get dirty in every once in a while, while mainainting a somewhat decent everyday road use.

on top of that, i dont know what the factory wheel specs are.

ok. there are a TON of choices.. american racing, etc on wheels. to be honest im not sure of whats good and bad, as i love my stock rims.

for tires, the stock size is 265/70/16. you can go up to 265/75/16 without lift.

if youre planning a lift, i would do that first, then get a suitable tire size (most likely 285/75/16)... this will require 3" of lift, perhaps more depending on what you have.

bfg makes good a/t's. if you want an even more aggro all-around tire, theres the mt/r's that i have (see my site for pics).

if you want a good street tire that has good grip, go with the bridgestone deuler revo's.

yokohama makes some good a/t's as well. good luck.

excellent info! thanks for the help. i dont think i'll be doing anymore than a 2" lift, so sounds like i'm ok there.

what it the bolt patter / offset of the stock wheels?

not 100%, but my research when wheel hunting told me it was 6 on 5.5" pattern and 4.75" offset

Here is my daily driver... a 1998 4Runner. I went for a nice cross between off-road look meets semi-bling.

After puting my 2" BL on, I removed the running boards. My wife hates it now and told me to buy my new boards FAST! So, I guess I get my new boards soon... probably STUBBS sliders. The truck does look better with them off though.
