Wheel weight balancing powder?

I just had a wheel/tire combo put on my rig and the installer said they used 1.5 packets of balancing powder per wheel with mud tires to avoid gob's of lead weight. He said this balancing powder is used on all modern 18 wheeler rigs for the same reason. My set-up rolls at highway speeds perfectly, It's the first time I've heard of it. Anyone else?

Seen it for sale in online 4x4 stores. Read about how it is used on big rigs. But had never known anyone who used it. Good to know it works.

But how do they know how much to put?

Haven't heard about the powder, but I've seen the beads that look like BBs.

It was a light gray powder. Now I'll have to research the stuff, God knows how it keeps a tire balanced but I took her wheeling today and the tires rolled smoothly and the Toytec Ultimate lift soaked-up the rough terrain.:driving:

One thing about the powder that I have found from researching on-line is the need to use an air dryer when putting in fresh air in your tires. As the moisture causes the powder to chunk up over time. I was curious too when I saw that on your other post so I did a little research.
