Wheel well sizes

Is the size and depth of the wheel well on the 03-05 different than the size and depth of the 06-09? I know the shape is slightly different. The reason i ask this is because i am putting a daystar 2.5/2 on my 03 and considerig the different tire sizes. In my opinion the bigger the wheels, the better, and i really wanted to put some 285/75's on my stock 16's. Many people who have done this say that there is a large rubbing problem, but all the ones that i have seen are on the 06-09. So is there a difference that would make the rubbing on my 03 worse, or maybe not as bad.

Also if there will be a large rubbing problem, would 1.25'' wheel spacers help significantly?

The actual sheet metal well is the same. The 2006-09 flares are a bit wider, making the wheels look tucked in.
