I'm curious, at about what mileage does one start to see things like outer tie rods, ball joints, motor & tranny mounts, shocks, etc.. start wearing out? I've got 60k on my 05', almost all highway. I'm just curious when to start thinking about replacing some normal wear n' tear stuff? I know these babies are built like super tanks, but at 6,005 lbs, I'd have to think that some of these parts start to show their age around this mark????

I agree with you though, I don't agree with that schedule for the most part. They must be surveying a GM Blazer! Hahaha.... But the parts about ball joints and tie rod ends makes sense.

I believe that the sticker inside the door is GVW (gross vehicle weight) which is the vehicle and passenger's/cargo weight. Not curb weight, which the owners manual should have in it somewhere. I'm sure that 4th gen's or any other gen.for that matter don't weigh in at 6k lbs. empty. That should be the vehicle and max cargo combined.

Timing Belt: I read somewhere on here that said someone was happy to be rid of the timing belt in exchange for the chain, when they upgraded to the 4th generation? I think our's does have the belt though, but I wouldn't think 60k would be late enough to worry about it? I know on the 4.0 V8 in the LS, it was at 90k. I'm pretty sure it's in the manual though. I hope it's not at 60k, don't need that expense at the moment, that's for sure!

4th gens with the V6 engine have chains and the V8 engines use belts.

Yep , just got home from work and getting ready to go fishing and suddenly NO forward LOL . Got it towed to the Chevy dealer and they put in a dealer rebuilt the next day .Picked it up that afternoon and well I didn't even make it home with the new one . Something went wrong with the pump in the new one . Wasn't very pleased to say the least .

I've got 107,000 miles on my 4runner and the only thing thats gone wrong with it is the power steering fluid changed into a dark color, so they pumped it out, flushed the system and put new stuff in, it sure steered a lot better after that.
Oh and my Daytime running light on the passenger side keeps going out which is a little annoying.
Other than that the car drives great.

I have a 4th gen with a 108K. Only thing I have had done is the timing belt, water pump, brakes, and tires. I am going to get the trans fluid changed at the dealer along with the power steering soon. I also am going to do the spark plugs myself, which are due at 120K. Amazingly I got the suspension checked out and I only have a worn isolator bushing. He said the shocks still have a lot of life left in them. Makes a weird noise when i go up and down on bumps, but you can only hear it if you try. I was going to have to get the coil springs replaced so it wasn't worth the money for that noise, It isn't a safety risk or do any damage to the truck. Hopefully I can go 20K more before anything else, hopefully nothing else for a while!
Hey Guys, I've got 122k miles on my 03 T4R SPORT with 3/2 cornfed and 285/70r/17 BFG KO's. I have had no probs at all and never had to replace a thing other than regular maint, like Brake PADS and all Fluids. I was talking to my wife just last night about what a great vehicle the T4R has been. It still runs and drives like the day i got it. I hope to hit 200k without any major repairs.
