When will we see the 2012?

I am contemplating getting rid of my 2005 V8 for a new Runner and don't see many in my area. I am unsure if its just that the dealers don't have a large stock in general or if they are just holding off for the 2012. Unsure if I should do the same as well. Also, whats the big differences between the SR5 and the Trail? I certainly miss my Sport Edition

THe 5th gens come from japan so the quake has really hurt supply and will probably push back the date the 2012's get over here. Other than cosmetic stuff, the main difference between the trail and sr5 woul be the rear locker and multi terrain select. If you plan on upgrading the suspension KDSS seems like money wasted to me.

mgrande, thanks for the reply. I was looking at the broshure and didn't really see a difference and thought I was missing something.

There is the crawl control on the trail as well as the rear locker and kdss other than that there is a bit of a package upgrade, hood scoop and the body pieces that are model specific the biggest selling point for me was the fact that I see a lot of limited and sr5's but not and trail models around here. OH and I wasn't a fan of the third row seating I liked the pull out tray.

When I got my SR5 about a month ago here in Denver it seemed as if there was a surpluss of them. I was actually planning on buying used because I couldn't afford the brand new ones MSRP.... I'd been looking at used 2010-2011 SR5's that were in the 33k-36k range depending on years and mileage (cheaper end being 2010's with up to 40k miles aready). I figured i could talk them down on one with low miles to the 30k-33k range. Come to find out, I went around the side of the dealership and found a PLETHORA of brand new SR5's all marked down from 36k-37k sticker to $31,900 and I took it immediately. I actually think mine was originally $37,900. I can't remember what the invoice was, but it was way under invoice even. The only negotiating I had to make was for my trade-in.

I have to say that I do like the look of the Trail myself but unsure if I want to spend the extra $2K on just the look. For the same price I can get the SR5 with leather...regardless, there are very few here in Syracuse, Ny. Semper, you got a heck of a deal...as long as they didn't screw you on your trade.

Why would it be a waste to get KDSS if you lift/upgrade? You still see the benefits of KDSS with a lift correct?

Yes. However, the immediate road benefits of KDSS can mostly be had with a better suspension. But you don't lose anything by having KDSS and then upgrading the suspension, either.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I would hate to go and buy a TE w/ KDSS just to do an upgrade and lose all the benefits.

there's no benefit loss, but an sr5 with a full aftermarket suspension will be the same as a trail with the same trail with the same aftermarket suspension. And I have yet to see anyone post numbers that KDSS provides more travel when offroad. If anything it would be better for the hardcore wheeler to have an sr5 and just remove the sway bar in order to allow the most amount of travel.

Having come from the jeep world and running no sways front & Rear, that is not an option for the new vehicle and I look forward to having sway bars and getting some extra travel with the kdss.

Scott, I'm in Binghamton (directly about 65mi south of you) and bought a new 4RTrail at Jack Sherman. Give them a holler as I got a hell of a deal.
BTW, I grew up and lived in Syracuse for many years. Lot's of memories.

Thanks for the link Rickwol. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for linking it as well. Their online inventory only shows that they have 1 in stock . Maybe they have more but they are just not online.
