ohhhhhh geeeeze

welp.... when in sketch situations, I always counter weight the rope, in the White water world when we are useing rope rigs and systems to get stuff unstuck, you always put a life jacket on the tension line that way if it goes, then you have the jacket the the hit, and the rope flying loseing a lot of energy with that weight. I transfered that to any time I am yanking.... and my trucks are involved.... I also do not let any one stand near by...

Oh and don't just wrap the rope around the stock bumper. Ha! Always use an actual recovery strap with appropriate attachments when possible.

It's best to have an assortment and the associated shackles, pulleys, etc.

Wheelers needs to offer a bag of some sort to put a dirty strap in.

I've got a large duffel bag that is my "oh shoot" bag. I keep an emergency strap in all my vehicles, but prefer not to use them if I don't have to. I keep my straps, shackles, receiver pins, receiver shackles, etc. in the duffel bag next to my Viair 450P in my shop and just pick it up and throw it in the truck of choice when I'm going some where.

The straps get used a fair amount (I often come across Jeeps when I'm off-roading...:biggrin2:). I hate having to put a nasty muddy strap in the duffel with all the other stuff. Wish there was a water resistant cloth sack to stick it in so it didn't get mud all over everything else. Get back to the house, hose sack and strap off, let dry in sun.

Get a camping/rafting "dry" bag for cheap. Turn it inside out to hose it off.

Back to the OP... Ouch.

hmmmm

I've got a bunch of dry bags (I'm a kayaker). That's actually a great suggestion! I should have thought of it...duh...

Thanks,

David
