Where are the 4th gens mounting their CB's??

Where are you guys mounting them? i like the cobra handheld but its a lil pricey for me. looking to buy a cheap one and mount it. Pics if u gots em Is this antenna any good?

For my CB I use a cobra that has almost all the controls in the mic, so that probably wont be the same but my HAM just just mounted to the side of my center console by the passengers knee. It is actually not in their way and it is easy to get to.

I didnt feel like drilling so it is being held on by heavy duty double sided 3M tape and even after hundreds of miles off road it has yet to come off.

AGS, I like where urs is, but I have a newb ? Does the sound of the person your talking to come through the control box or the mic? Im guessing it comes through the mic, otherwise you would have a hard time hearing it in the console

I use a Galaxy 88 in my 04 runner and it is mounted on the driver side of the console. Works good for me.

id like to try and get the cb mounted between the passenger seat and the console. It seems to be one of the slimmest out there so wish me luck lol

No, the sound doesnt come through the mic. An external speaker might be in the cards down the road!? Right now I leave the lid open on the center console when I use it and I can hear everything perfectly. The mic eiher goes back in the console or I lay it over my lap.

Nope, it doesn't get in my way. I am using an external speaker to bring the sound back behind me, mounted on the sleeper.

for trail riding is why I am getting it. Going on my 1st trail run in a few months and to pass the safety inspection you have to have one, or at least a hand held 2 way radio

When I do trips with lots of off road groups CB's are a minimum and now are even making the transition to HAM.

A radio is definitely needed when on the trails.

Ok that is funny "Flame suit on"...

CB is required for many TLCA events also..I did not pull my Cobra 75 from my FJC..I have two hand held multi-channel CBs for the occasional use.

HAM is huge in our 4x4 club, I think we are about 65% HAM now. Presta, you should look into HAM, as well. You can get ones that mount the front plate only and the radio can be mounted any where in the vehicle.

I have an entry level HAM, ICOM8000 but it works well..I can talk to folks in Denver while I am in Grand Junction which is a 4 hour drive away, as we have repeaters all along I70..
