Where are the Toyota/Lexus SUVs made?

SO we've done it. We totaled out Sequoia and are going to be buying another vehicle. I want something at least the size of the 4runner. Our choices are 4runner, GX470, Sequoia or LX570. Which are made in Japan? I want one that is made in Japan, as they are usually very well made. Price is not a HUGE issue as long as its made in Japan.

The 4runner, GX, LX and Land Cruiser are still made in japan. The sequoia is now made along side the tundra somewhere in the US. I think most people will suggest the 4runner on here. I have never been a big fan of the GX. The back door/tail gate in particular is a deal breaker for me. My dad drives an LX470 which I am a huge fan of, that is if you don't mind LARGE fuel costs. I haven't driven a 570, but I just imagine its even better. I hear they are very fast. There is a pretty large difference in price though, an LX is about twice as much as a Limited 4runner.

Well, the reason why is we got T-Boned and my parents walked away. Had it have been anything any smaller, they might not be as fortunate. unfortunately, we dont have the land cruiser in Canada. Which would have been my number 1 choice.

They don't sell the Land Cruiser in Canada?!?! Wow, thats surprising. Maybe a GX would be a good compromise then. Even though, I think its about the same size as a 4runner.

No sir. I wish they did, but unfortunately they dont. I just noticed that your toyotas in the US are much cheaper than north of the border. I think we are leaning towards the Sequoia again, even though its not made in japan. But because it is the size we want at the price we want....I wonder if the local dealer can import a land cruiser for us...

Toyota/Lexus quality is still the same wether it's made in Japan or the US. The engine might be a little different, like some 4Runner's over there are Turbo Diesels, but the steering wheel is on the passenger side...

Sequoia is made in Princeton, Indiana.

GX470, LX570, 4Runner and Land Cruiser are made in Tahara, Japan. It's one of the best, if not the best manufacturing plant in the world. It won the JD Powers Platinum plant award for several years.

Some 4Runners are made at the Hino plant in Japan. Hino is Toyota's heavy trucks division.

I would love to have a turbo diesel. If they started selling them on this side of the pond, I would sell my 4runner for it in a heart beat.

Do us here in IN a favor and buy a Sequoia I can tell you that the new model Sequoia's are far better in every aspect, especially the new 5.7L.

Just curious did you have issues with your old one? What would cause you to think that the vehicles that are made in Japan, are of better quality?

Well, I picked Japanese made over others because I have had an Audi, BMW, mazda, Acura, Honda, Toyota and Lexus. I have found that I was only successful with Japanese made ones. I didnt have any problems with the Sequoia except for the recall. But my selection between the Lexus and Toyota is... the lexus service is FAR superior than toyota. At the lexus dealership, they give you a rental (no questions asked) even when you do an oil change. They give it a car wash, sometimes even vacuum. But Im weighing whether that is worth the extra money.

It is the top-of-the-line Toyota/Lexus SUV, has the latest technology (CRAWL for off-roading, cameras all around), top-notch reference sound system (Mark Levinson Reference), and the latest powertrain. Now, if you said fuel economy is a big issue, then yeah consider the other choices. Otherwise, i would stick with LX570. Car & Driver recently crowned the LX as being the most desired luxury full-size SUV...what is more to say?

My 4runner is the hauler/offroader/city driver/bad-neighbourhood-goer

Our new Sequoia/GX470/LX570 will be daily driver (parking in an underground lot) and people hauler. We take long trips every weekend, with the whole family.

This is why i like my Sienna...a great people hauler with all the luxury features (dynamic laser cruiser, memory seats, JBL Synthesis, DVD NAVI, DVD entertainment, HIDs), yet is not on the crosshairs of thieves!

LOL! We have tossed this idea around but we go to cottage country and in the winter time we need 4wd and a bit of clearance. The search continues!

Hey, i just found out today that my Sienna has 6.9 in. of ground clearance...so, there you go!

Highlander AWD? Acura MDX?

My brother in law just got a new Acura MDX. It is nice but a bit tight compared to the Sequoia. I think we are going to end up with the Sequoia. The size is comfortable and it isnt flashy.
