Where can I get connector for O2 sensor?

I'm not talking about the connector attached to the O2 sensor itself, I need the one that it plugs into. Just looking for the connector itself, with enough wire to splice into the existing wiring. Mine has a short that I've traced to the connector.

Haven't had any luck on the auto parts websites, but that could be because I don't know exactly what to call the thing. I've seen plenty of connectors for the O2 sensor itself, since you can buy them without a connector, but haven't found the other one.

It's for a 2002 4runner, Sport Edition if that matters. This is the downstream O2 sensor, after the cat.

Parts like those are very difficult to source. You have two options:

1. Call your local Toyota dealer and see if they might have the part. Normally though they only carry the entire harness, not just one connector.

2. Visit your local junk yard/salvage yard and cut off the harness you need then solder it on to your 4Runner.
 
That may be difficult to source, but it is not impossible for a dealership to fix, and may be your only option.


Regarding that specific rear sensor, it has a ground wire that grounds back to the computer, as opposed to simply grounding on the exhaust. That ground wire is bundled and insulated inside a thicker black wire that is a part of the bundle after the connector.


When I had to have mine replaced due to theft of the cat (they cut the sensor wire instead of just disconnecting it) I believe the dealership rebuilt the bundle up to the firewall at a cost of a few hundred dollars.
 
Yeah that's what I mean about replacing the entire harness, they usually will not just cut a piece off an give it to you. Although I agree that dealers usually do a good job, a decent soldering job with silver solder will work just fine. I've repaired and soldered plenty of wires and harnesses and never had an issue and it's pretty easy to do. Will save you a lot of money too.

Contact [MENTION=78895]DeathCougar[/MENTION] He is parting out a number of 3rd gens. He told me if Toyota put it in a 3rd gen he has it.
 
Dang, that's what I figured. My mechanic was going to get his salvage guy to find one from a junkyard, but he's been dodging my calls so I'm thinking it isn't going well, lol.

I have plenty of experience soldering stuff, a few wires is no problem.

Well, you can get the empty connector housing from Toyota and then get repair wires, which are short wires with pins attached. The housings are cheap, the repair wires can add up on 27-pin connector. If you know which wire is bad, then it is relatively cost efficient. You just need to get the existing good wires out of the old housing and into the new one. This isn't so bad if you know how.

The connector you want is Type H4: Heated Oxygen Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2) HOUSING, CONNECTOR, FEMALE - 90980-11028. $6.47 0n-line.

Toyota - HOUSING, CONNECTOR, FEMALE Part Number: 90980-11028

The housing has four wires. The repair wires for those are 82998-12440.

Toyota - TERMINAL, REPAIR W/ WIRE Part Number: 82998-12440

$5.27 on-line. My dealer will order these parts for a slightly higher price, but no shipping.He doesn't know how to look them up, but he is happy to order if I give him the p/n. Your dealer may be a jerk, I don't know. If you need just a housing and one repair wire, I'd say it's a cost effective way of doing it.

Wow, thanks Durk!

That's exactly what I was looking for. If I understand this correctly I could simply order that housing, plus four wires, and make my own replacement connector. Cut mine off, splice that in, and bam, done.

With the larger connectors that would get expensive fast, but I just need four wires so it's not too bad.
 
Bumping this in the hope that someone with a parts truck would be willing to cut me off the harness side of the rear oxygen sensor connector with 6+ inches of wires still on it. The 4Runner I'm working to repair lost the connector and some of the harness when the transfer case exploded on the previous owner. PM me please if you have one you can send to me. I'm trying to avoid spending the $50 on connector and 4 wires to repair it.

EDIT: Rear oxygen sensor connector can be from 5VZ or 3RZ, and Federal or California emissions.

I am certain they have what you need. Just have to send them a pic of the connector and they will get you the right one.

Thanks for the links, but I've tried both of them already. Connector Experts wants $80 and Aeromotive Services hasn't gotten back to me from 3 days ago. I have some spare 4 pin male/female weatherproof connectors that I can use to replace both sides, but that's not an ideal fix. If I can't find a replacement soon then I'll order this extension harness and just cut off the connector end that I need: Amazon.com: 1x Wiring Harness Extension for Toyota O2 Oxygen Sensor 36" : Automotive

For 20 bucks, I don't see how you can go wrong. Don't think it will be any cheaper from Toyota if you can actually find a part #...

Thanks for that. I wish I would have searched around on that website before I ordered the jumper harness. Oh well. It was only an extra $10 and now I have both ends in case I need it.
