Where do I tap in for a back up cam reverse input?

Depending on where your wires end up, you can tap the wire at the trunk or the shifter.

On a manual transmission, you'll have to go to the trans. switch though.

Just to be clear, you can tap a 5-speed at the reverse light just like an auto but the actuator switch is on the trans at about the 3 o'clock position. Of course, the OP has an auto because 5-speeds ended in 2000 and he has an '01.

For the auto, you can tap the White-blue wire shown in the attached anywhere along its length that you find convenient. It runs from the shifter and then splits going to both bulbs.

Reverse camera inputs wires monitors are +12v switched. (when the back up light turns on)
What I actually did, was hook it up to a toggle switch on one of the knock outs by the eLocker switch.
Sure I had to switch manually to see when reversing, but then this way, I wasn't pigeon holed into the camera only working when I'm in reverse.

I could actually flip to reverse cam at will to have a quick look at the trailer hitch when towing or to have a look at the a-hole tailgating me. :biggrin1:

Thank you and yes I was looking to tap it at the shifter base as opposed to needlessly running wire to the bulb area.
I should have stated this in my 1st post,I will report how it goes as far as the install now I just have to find a good location to mount it.
