Where do you guys mount your ARB Compressor?

I'll be re-routing mine soon to the top of one of the rear fenders inside the cargo area. I'm thinking I may just bolt it through the bottom of an ammo can (or similar steel box) so the comp is protected. I think the engine bay is cramped enough as it is so I don't even want to try squeezing that crap in there.
Right now, I have it on the inside of my frame up by the steering shaft, which has been fine so far, but I'm careful not to use my locker over deep water crossings as I wouldn't want to pump water in my diff.. haha. I'm planning on moving my comp soon, but I gotta deal with some engine issues first. And I have to say, I love my ARB, it's disgusting sick. I drive through anything with it.

I'm installing my ARB compressor on Sunday, and spent most of the day today trying to figure out where to mount it. There is absolutely no space in the Engine bay. I was thinking next to the rear seat on the drivers side, right by where the door closes. There is a small area there, but I'd prefer it to be out of site. Anyone have pics or ideas? Pics would be absolutely wonderful.

My turn to help someone out. I have a friend who is very handy at fabricating stuff, after toying with a few idea's I was still very keen on mounting the compressor in the engine bay. I have a 99 SR5 mind you, so depending on what year your rig is things may be slightly different. We examined three possible ideas, inside the truck, driver side below the battery and finally passenger side. I chose the passenger side because that was where I wanted it to go in the first place. If you look in between the ABS actuator and the Cruise control actuator there is a SMALL place to put the compressor into. I have the ARB CKMA12, which was JUST compact enough to make due in the small place I had to work with. He built a bracket that bolted onto one of the available holes in the fender and we bolted and plumbed the compressor, and the rest was history. The type of compressor will be your deciding factor, and again if it's bigger than a CKMA12 you'll probably want to look elsewhere. Remember, the compressor can be configured to mount in many configurations by playing with the mounts. You may find other ideas doing that!

curious to see what you come up with since I was thinking of buying one myself in the not to distant future. I was almost thinking about in the rear 1/4 panel storage compartment, but haven't actually take measurements or anything to see if its even possible.

I just put a long metal plate under the battery that extends out into the engine bay enough to put the compressor on top of it. Bolted the plate down under the battery and put an L bracket under the plate for support. Pretty simple install. Yea, it's in a spot of rough environment but the things are made for it.

Yours must be an 01-02. I did NOT have nearly enough room as you did. 01's had the integrated master cylinder and ABS!

I've got a "Truck-Air" brand compressor that I use currently. I had one for 10 years before the hose finally broke off of the compressor. I should have repaired it, but I found a brand new one at a surplus store for 30 bucks, couldn't pass that up. I plan to dissasemble it and build a box for it to mount in the passenger side storage compartment. I seriously abused this thing the first few years I owned it, it was just stored in a plastic bin that rolled around the back of my pickup for a few years. It was used every weekend to air up the tires on my dirtbikes, air up my truck tires, and almost anything else you would use a portable compressor for.

this is what i did, i built the box that it sits in. that is bolted to the frame cross member, and protects the compressor from any damage from rocks or other dangers. then i removed the ARB prefilter, and put in a 5/8 or 3/4 hose barb and then used clear hose(you can see the hose right below the yellow coiled air hose i use for filling tires or my air bags) to run out nad over to the pressure equalization vent in the divers side lower quarter panel and up into the cabin, in behind the rear pillar trim panel. the hose extends all the way up to about 6" short of the roof. this way i am sure it always is pulling clean fresh air even when the compressor is submerged in water of muck. i have had the compressor submerged several times and it has always worked flawlessly for me. and this is what the compressor looks like after 18+months of use. still nice and clean -i do spray it off after wheeling in mud and much and submerging it, but i have never removed it to clean it beyond a spray off with the hose.

this is exactly what i would like to do with mine. So you had that long plate sticking out and the put a big square plate on top of it for the arb to sit on. did you bolt the plate to the truck or the weight of the battery is holding it? Is that a 98? my battery seems to be taking a lot of room, maybe its just the angle im looking at?

They're so pretty. I put mine inside. Just mounted my buddy's inside his rig last weekend too. Just my personal preference. Pic is of how I mounted it in my 1st gen-
