where does that "beep" come from when you hit the lock button?

i was wondering . . . because i have trouble hearing mine and would like to make it louder.

the noise comes from a module/speaker that is mounted on passenger side against the fender inside the engine bay. It towards the back by the firewall.

To change it you have to have a key fob. With a front door open, press and hold down the unlock key untill you hear a solid tone. After hearing that tone, keep it held down and simultaneously press lock button to increase the sound. The window button lowers the sound.

This isn't for 3G4Rs with the SecuriKey+ FOB, is it? Because all my does is lock the doors and turn on the headlights for a while.

mine is strictly keyless entry. i have no alarm.
