Nice. I'm actually heading to the north shore of Superior in a few weeks. I'd like to do a driving tour around the lake some day.

Yup. I actually live on the North Shore, on Scenic Highway 61, across the street from the big, cold lake

.The North Rim of the Grand Canyon (Kaibab National Forest) is always memorable. It's way more remote; we camped at one of the trailheads for the Rainbow Rim Trail, one of those "epic" MTB routes. 25+ miles of dirt road to get here and you can set up your tent as close to the edge of the cliff as you dare.. The night sky from this location is unreal.
Otherwise I would suggest Moab, UT and surrounding areas (Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, etc..)
