where the h*** is the %$*&$$@!! oil filter on my '93?!

As I'm sitting here typing perhaps I figured it out- do I have to remove the skid plate to access the oil filter? Probably a DUMB question, but I got this far!:redbrick: :wtf:

Never done it myself but Mr Lube seem to be able to do it without removing the Skid Plate so it can be done.

I am talking about the 3 litre 3vze engine, not the 2.4

turn your tires all the way to the left and look under the splash shield in your front left wheel well. Only on the v6 model

ya remove the skid plate its only 4 bolts that hold it on. I think mr lube took mine off when ive taken it there b/c half the bolt theads are stripped and i know i didnt do it...

I always take off the skid plate on my 93 V6. It seems easier to both get to the drain plug and to the oil filter.

you usually have to take of the skid plate off. I know i use to when I was working in a lube shop. We hated getting toyotas in... LOL

I tried to ghetto my filter out last time (also my first oil change on my 4runner) with a screw driver... man, tell ya what, these little import engines are a lot more of a PITA to work on than my old 78 f150.. at any rate, yes, you should probably take the skid plate off just to make life easier on you, and spend the extra couple dollars on a oil filter wrench if you don't have one... I didn't have one on hand and had to take my girlfriends VW Cabrio (least masculine vehicle ever, btw) to kragen to grab one. Boo.

I've changed the oil several times already and I just reach my long ass arm in there and got the oil filter off with an oil filter wrench.:thumb3:
