Where to bolt tether anchors to on 2000 4runner?

Well my wife just had our first child two weeks ago. We have a graco snugride base and carseat already mounted and checked by the police in her 2003 Mazda tribute. So we got another base for my 2000 4runner SR5 with no third row seat. Come to find out there is no tether anchors in the back seat. So I had my dad order me(he is a parts manager at a Toyota dealership) two tether anchors. My thinking was I could find a place to bolt them up and use my base. Well I looked and haven't been able to find a place to bolt these dang things up and basically until I find a place to bolt these up I am screwed on my son riding in my 4runner. Using the factory seat belt doesn't work because the middle one doesn't tighten down enough. A trained police officer even checked it and said it isn't safe and he also said the other two seat belts wont work either for a permanant because it just isn't safe enough. Can anyone help me please?

I've got the anchors in the seat backs of the rear seats in my '02...I'm surprised the '00s didn't get them. Must have been before the regulation.

Don't know if this will help, but check out this link. Jab talks about installing a tether bracket in the cargo area for the rear seats on his old '99 4Runner for this very issue.

seat anchors ... not tethers....My 02 has the tethers but not the anchors.. I too wanted to install them into my 4runner, but couldn't find an obvious place to bolt them up. in the end I decided to use the seat belt ...it may be a little different in the 02 vs. the 00. Not too certain. I really can't think of any thing except to get high tensile strength bolts and nuts and make them fit..If some one has an 03 or later and could show us a pic of the rear seats where the anchors are bolted, maybe we can see a way of installing them in ours. Good Luck!

Not sure why you posted the same response at 2 different times, but in response to why I posted the link to the tether anchor as I did, was b/c the title of this thread is: "Where to bolt tether anchors to on 2000 4runner?". Thus, IMO, he's asking about tether anchors, not seat anchors.

I have a 4 week old at home. And a 01' runner. I ended up putting the Graco anchor behind the front passenger seat. I used the clips provided to attach to the brackets (idk what else to call them) one in the middle where the two seats connect and the other between the fron of the passenger side rear wheel well and the back of the seat i dont know if that made since?

I know have realized I could have put the base in the middle and go under (the crack in the seats) and up, to connect them to the anchors on the back of the seats.

I dont know the difference between tethers and anchors... sorry. Hope my rambling has somewhat helped.
