Where to buy a replacement headlight assembly/housing?

I goggled it and found pricing ranging from $40.00- $200.00

I don't want to cheap out just to save a few $$ and find that its a POS.

Has anybody purchased one online and have any recommendations on a brand or website that sells quality OEM replacement parts.

It has been two years since I purchased my after market ones. I paid $100 for both of mine. Don't remember where I bought them from though. As for the quality, its not oem, but for the price I can't tell the difference. This is the only non oem toyota part I have ever installed.

I have one DEPO headlight on my 05 Sport. From the outside, quality appears to be the same. However I noticed the quality on the covers that you remove when you remove & replace a bulb seem to be sub-par compared to the OEM headlight that I have on the other side. The plastic seems to be cheaper and doesn't feel like it locks back in to the headlight housing as tightly. Otherwise, it functions perfectly fine. I haven't had any problems (yet).

If you have extra cash, go OEM. If you want to save some $$, the DEPO ones will get the job done.

For what it's worth, I purchased a pair of ebay headlights for my civic and the headlights were IDENTICAL to the OEM ones. BUT, when I turned my lights on, the beam pattern was a disaster! I would say Headlights are a big deal, but that's me.

I've been so impressed by Mike's final product in his http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/87465-quad-xenon-hid-retrofit-project.html thread that I will be trying to get this done before the end of the year.

My question though is, if I were to buy a set of "cheap" headlights, will the clear plastic fade worse or deteriorate or will it just be an issue of the bulbs/projectors failing? I intend to gut them out and replace them with new projectors like Mike, so if I can get a set of them for cheap I'd be happy; but not at a cost to the housing quality, you know?

as far as aftermarket ones, depending on brand, u can get ones real cheap with a 6month - 1 year warranty, a little more $ for ones with a 3 year warranty, then theres a 5 year warranty brand that costs much more. ive had a few over the years because of idiots, from my experience, the UV coating peels off on the cheapest after a year, (TYC) in all fairness, that could be a result of baking them for blacking out. otherwise housing quality seems fine. haven't tried the 3 year,- 2006-2009 Toyota 4Runner Headlight - Pair (Both Driver and Passenger Sides) 07 08 (Sport) - AutoLightsBulbs.com, so next time ill the autotrust gold with 5 year, depending on where purchased, slightly cheaper than OEM. 2006 Toyota 4runner Body Parts - Headlights & Headlamps off course that wont help if they're modded.

Here's another thought: Since forever, when I wax my cars, I apply cleaner wax to the headlights (plastic). I have YET to experience yellowing. On some of my friends cars, some of them do NOT wax them, and lo and behold, there is yellowing. Just thought I'd throw it out there...........

I've researched this site and looked at a few online sellers seeing prices from $160/pair to $180/each. I'm looking to keep the OEM style, but would like to avoid the OEM price, if possible. Can anyone recommend a pair of non-OEM headlight assemblies for less that $250 that aren't complete junk? Anyone have buyers' remorse about not spending more for the OEM lights? Any recommendations would be most helpful.

Here are two of twenty that I've seen; anyone have any with experience with either of these products?:

A related question: Is the "All aftermarket headlights are junk" meme I keep hearing true for all types of headlights or really just for the '06+ projectors? With the much simpler reflector design on the '03-'05 are any of the NSF or CAPA certified aftermarket headlight assemblies likely to be a decent substitute for OEM?

I bought a passenger side headlight from TYC with "guaranteed fitment" for about $100 last year and so far so good. Looks OEM to me...

I know this is an old thread, but what did you settle on? Did they work out ok, or do you wish you would have gone OEM? i am replacing my headlight assemblies due to an accident and looking for best most cost effective replacement.

They worked out fine. I no longer have the truck--traded on a 2010 5th generation--but no condensation after the switch. I had a body shop install it, but you might be able to do it yourself. The biggest pain was getting the alignment right. The body shop aimed it at a wall and it was way off. Took it to a mechanic who did inspections and he got it right. Probably another $40 between the install and adjustment , but worth it to me and still way less than OEM.

I have the original set from my 04. I took them out few years ago, so I don't know the condition off the top of my head. The 06 one I put in I sanded and clear coated and they help up grate. If you're interested I can go check them out in the next day or two.
