Where to mount bluetooth mic?

I ended up installing myself the Alpine CDE-103BT CD receiver w/ built in Bluetooth. It comes with a microphone for my iphone. Any writes ups on where to mouth and hide the wire for the mic?

I came across this -
Bluetooth Microphone Placement - Tacoma World Forums
(See "epa4wd" post)

Looks like he has it mounted in the control switch insert on the dash... can you buy a dash insert for this?

I clipped mine to my sun visor, it's the closest location to my face, doesn't pick up road noise, and can pick up the passenger if I want it to.

It was pretty easy to tuck it into the pillar and across the crack between the roof and windshield. Since I wanted some flexibility to tweak the location I have it coming out right at the review mirror with enough slack to reach to either sun visor and to the little over head console where I might stick it eventually. Not the cleanest since I have that bit of slack hanging out, but that will be easy to change and for now it works perfect and looks good enough.

For shorter people the steering column area seems like a good and much easier spot, but in my usual driving position my face is closer to the visor.

I have a similar setup in my car, and mounted it to the front of the headliner, just in front of the sun visor. It doesn't pick up wind noise as much there, and works whether the sun visor is up or down, and it's out of the way. Ran the wire up the inside of the a-pillar cover, nice and clean.

im going to be wiring mine to come out the back of my steering wheel on friday. and im gonna mount it on the top of the steering wheel base.
btw this pic is not my vehicle. google image gave it to me, i am at work. :)

The in-dash set-up looks pretty slick, very stealth. I wonder if steering wheel and arms while driving might block the sound some?

In my Tacoma I have mine on the top of the A-pillar. I just got the truck so I asked quite a few people the first while I used it how it sounded and everyone said ok. Only thing that I'm now wondering about as IanB mentioned is wind noise in summer if my window's down. Being that I just bought the truck I'll have to wait and see how it is this summer.

well from what my take is on the wind noise, theres a control for that on my radio, i go to options, settings, microphone, then select the wind reduction. i turned mine up and havnt had a problem with it, and i always have my windows down (in az, its always window down weather). it also cuts out passengers that love to chat amongst themselves.

Have bt in 98 and 99 and the headliner to the right of the drivers sunvisor to the left of the map light sunglass compartment is where i put my mic. Reason is so u can flip the visor all the way forward if needed. Best spot imo
