Where to purchase stock rims/wheels?

I am planning to purchase of set of 5 new A/T tires - one size larger than my stock street tires - Michelin 265/65R17. From all the research I have done from this and other forums, the recommendation is to use BF Goodrish A/T KO 265/70R17 tires which will not need any lifts, will fit on the OEM wheels and hopefully will not rub against the wheel-well.

My current goal is NOT to do any mods, lifts etc. I plan do off roading but only moderate trails. So I will keep a this new set of 5 A/T tires for trips and off-road trails only. Because this 4Runner is my daily driver also, I will switch to the OEM street Michelin tires on a regular basis.

I will check and confirm the current specs.dimensions of my stock wheels.

My question is, where can I get new or almost new OEM wheels at a reasonable price?

What would be a good price for each wheel?

If I buy slightly used ones, what should I be looking for in terms of quality and usability?

My car is my daily driver also, and it is not bad with different tires on.

Why do you want to have two sets? Not to wear out your off road tires or what?

Also, I am sure if you are only doing moderate trails you would be amazed with all the things you could do with your stock tire. And why do you want to stick to the OEM wheels if these will just be your off roading tire?
 
You can but some nice crossover all terrains that can handle what you want to do , save you the swapping 2 sets of tires , ect.....

The are some nice riding "P" rated all terrains out there that will give you a great combination of both worlds.

Primarily for safety. Actually I was more thinking of not wearing out my stock Michelin tires becaues of the off-roading and the abuse it has already taken and will take in the future. Because this is my daily driver and I drive at least 102 miles (Southern CA!) round-trip pretty much every day during week-days, to and from work, not to mention the weekend trips and long-distance out-of-town trips, I figured it might be safer to go 4wheeling with a different and more capable set of A/T tires. Also using the one size larger tires for daily commute will be a bit louder on the freeway and consume more gas.

You are right, the stock Michelin tires peformed quite well during the 5 or 6 moderate off-roading trails I have gone so far. I did get stuck going up a steep incline but was able to get to the top on the 3rd attempt with the right 4WD and 4Lo settings. On the same trail another friend with the BF Goodrich A/T KO went up on the first attempt without any problems. Both are T4R's are identical i.e. 4th Gen V6, stock suspension etc. except for the tires.

You have raised a good question. I don't need to stick with stock rims if I do go ahead with another set of A/T tires. The only reasons I thought of that was:

1) These BF Goodrich A/T KO 265/70R17 tires I found out from the forums match correctly with the stock rims.

2) Probably I could readily pick up a set of 5 rims from 4th Gen 4Runner owners maybe from Craigslist of E-Bay who are looking to get rid of theirs because of upgrades to larger tires and rims.

3) More cost efficient (??) Cost of new set of rims could be higher than purchasing new or almost new/slightly used set of stock rims from owners of have upgraded.

After researching and debating between Bridgestone and BF Goodrich, I am leaning towards BF Goodrich A/T KO's. Those have good dual capabilities, quite long-lasting and not too pricey.

Swapping can be a pain especially in Southern CA where we do not need to change tires because of weather. However, I have been considering a whole differnet set of tires primarily because of safety including reliability, gasoline mileage and longevity.

It is good to see that you have thought things through.

My recommendation on finding these wheels, if Craigslist and Ebay fail, is simply messaging members in SoCal who have a different wheel/tire set up and seeing if they are willing to part with their old stock wheels that are undoubtedly sitting in storage somewhere.

Just a thought :D.

p.s. look into Nitto Terra Grapplers, I know you have done your research but I LOVE my tires, they are really quiet on the road (so driving to and from off roading wont be annoying) and are quite a bit cheaper than the BF Goodrich. I can also tell you first hand that they preform very well off road.

The price for 4 Nittos, having my old tires taken off, new ones put on and balanced was only $500. Far less than the BFG's..

They are quoting $510.93 apiece with a 20% discount => $408.75

Way too much!

For some strange reason, the local Tustin Toyota Parts Dept., pulled up two different Toyota P/N's against my VIN:
