Where to run wire thru the firewall?

Been searching around but unable to find anything exact - sorry...

Trying to help my son wire-up his Hella halogens - stuck on two things:
1) where and how is the best way to get the wire thru the firewall?
2) I would like to connect it so that the lights are only hot when the parking lights are on. Where do I connect the wire to?

I'm going to keep looking and surfing around YouTube some, but I know many of you have already tackled this specifically for our vehicles.

There is a group of wires that goes through the engine bay & firewall on the drivers side. Use that. You will have to cut a small hole through the rubber grommet and feed the wires through.

To get the lights in the parking lights circuit, splice the switch power into the green line coming off the back of the dimmer switch on on the dash.

Are you wiring an entirely new circuit with a relay triggered by the parking lights? You're going to need that. If you wire them in by "piggybacking" off the parking lights they will be really dim or blow a fuse. Good luck

could wire them into the OE fog lamp wiring and just get the relay that corresponds w/ the OE spot in the fuse panels. .


As long as you don't already have OE foglamps

Thanks - I found the large grommet on the very far drivers side of the firewall and was able to see it come thru on the inside. I should be able to make a small hole to feed the wires then perhaps tape or something around it to help seal it as best possible.

Yes, I'm using the relay that came with the Hella wiring kit, also bought an OEM dash switch instead of using the little round Hella one. It does have OEM fog lamps as it's a Limited.

How exactly then do you "splice in" to the parking lights? Do I just need to find that wire then splice in? Or am I better off just running the red power source to the battery terminal?
