Where's OUR supercharger?

I bet the tacoma kit would come pretty darn close to fitting. The FJ is structurally much more similar to the 4Runner, but the body style and stuff under the hood is more similar on the Taco and 4Runner (I only mention the body style as being important because of the fender mounted cold air duct on the airbox)

Search around, see if someone has done it.

i've been looking around and can't really find anything. i would be hesitant to fit the SC on a t4r bc it wouldn't be under warranty like the tacoma and fj fit kits are.

As soon as a little more funds become available, this kit will be done! I will be doing the charger, along with an APR tune, and depending how how much more info I get on the specifics, I'll decide on which fit kit is best (basically the intercooler and pump mounting).

The 4.0 is identical for the FJ, Taco, and T4R. So fitment of the charger shouldn't be an issue. Only thing I can possibly think of is hood clearance, but I believe I should already have enough with the sport hood bump.

You are correct in that the engine is the same. Its the engine accessories that are in different locations. Airbox, alternator, etc. That is what the install kits are for.

a little bit of custom work and this could be an option, no?

is it possible that toyota will release a 4runner kit? or would they have made it when the supercharger came out?

They would've done this when the kits came out for the Taco & FJ. Probably figured that the market was too small with us and not worth their time and $ to put together and certify.

So how much different are the accesories? I thought the fit kit basically came down to intercooler and water pump mounting.

I think the terminus of the air intake is different on all three and the hanger that the alternator mounts on is different, at least between the taco and 4runner (this was my own observation, the alternator was more or less in the same place, but the hanger was completely different). All it takes for the parts to not work is the difference of any measurement, a screw hole that is 1/2mm to the left, or the accessory belt being a little different. I would be willing to bet that the supercharger itself would bolt up to the cylinder heads, no problem. You V6 guys just need some brave soul to try it first :)

A regular customer at the shop that i work at comes in often with his v8 t4r, TRD supercharged, dual magnaflowed beast. Runs and sounds nice.... Proves if there is a will, there is a way.
I'll get pics of it next time its in.

The will and the way is that TRD once graced their catalog of awesome parts with a supercharger for 4.7 2UZ V8, and it fit the 4Runner. In fact check this out. Its a short lived trim level for both the 4R and the Tundra double cab, not many people knew about this because Toyota pulled the plug on the supercharger option shortly after it was announced. Before this, it was a part number from TRD, and since it was not a "true" toyota product (TRD was not owned by Toyota until just a few years ago), one could not include it in the financing of their vehicle, it had to be purchased and dealer installed separately.

The reason we don't see the supercharger in production anymore is because the 2UZ has notoriously skinny con rods and they liked to snap under forced induction loads. A simple solution by Toyota would have been to go back to the old, early 90's con rods for the 1UZ in the Lexus because they were big and beefy, but instead they chose to tell TRD that they would no longer warranty the supercharger.
