Where's the side body molding????

Hi all....I wrote about this a long time ago...BEFORE I HAD A PROBLEM! Knew it was coming. The Sequoia, Land Cruiser, and even the Rav4 have body side moldings to prevent some a** from opening his door up into yours and causing dings. I even wrote Toyota about this. Well, someone's door got me good today! My wife's 2003 MDX didn't have body side moldings but Acura added them to the 2004. The only protection we have is our running boards, but another SUV or truck which is higher up got me. Has anyone added these to their 2003 or 2004 4runner and, if so did you use the same ones off another model so they match the paint or just went with black? (Thanks for letting me vent too!)

I'm with you rhlitt. I too received the door chip. Actually I was the klutz. I did it opening the door of my wife's Sienna and the wind grabbed the door and swung into the brand new 4Runner. Ouch!

It took out a 1/2" slice of paint. I touched it up and it looks like a touch up. Not much more I can do other than have the area repainted by a body shop or cover it up with molding.

So I thought some body side moldings would be a good idea. I've searched around and there are different widths and colors available from various vendors. I would like to see how it looks before proceeding. I do want to have some protection so it doesn't happen again.

The whole side of the new 4runner has plastic to protect agains't damage? Side molding added higher up would look :( . I don't care what you do sometimes you might get hit? I walk long distances with both my vehicles.
